Reconnecting with Bamboo — A New Phase for Green Bamboo Cambodia
Founded in 2020, Green Bamboo Cambodia emerged as a personal and community-rooted initiative to explore bamboo as a material for sustainable living, conscious creation, and eco-construction. It was driven by a clear intent: to build with nature, experiment with low-impact models, and imagine spaces where creativity, healing, and community could grow in harmony.
While the early vision took shape through research, prototyping, and community engagement, the initiative encountered significant disruptions — from the global pandemic to land-related challenges and project misalignments. These realities required the project to pause, reassess, and reflect.
Now entering a new phase, Green Bamboo Cambodia project is reconnecting with its foundational purpose — with more clarity, grounded learning, and a long-term perspective. As part of this step forward, the initiative is engaging in the Pablo Luna Studio Bamboo Masterclass to deepen knowledge of bamboo architecture, construction techniques, and design integration.
“This is not a new beginning — it’s a continuation with clearer intention,” says founder Caroline Chau
“We are building a meaningful path that balances structure with soul, creativity with responsibility, and vision with reality.”
The first masterclass session on Curves offered practical insight into working with bamboo’s natural flexibility to design stable, resilient structures. The upcoming focus on Joints will further explore the technical connectors essential to safe, enduring bamboo construction.
Green Bamboo Cambodia remains committed to its mission: to contribute to regenerative design, local empowerment, and sustainable building practices in Cambodia and beyond.
Thank you to Pablo Luna Studio for creating a space for shared learning and community-driven innovation.
