Did you know the ocean in Rocky Point started glowing last night? 🌊✨

It’s called bioluminescence, and most people have no idea it happens right here on our shores, but when it shows up, it is absolutely breathtaking!

And guess what… we have availability for a last-minute trip if you want to pack up and go! 🥳

Bioluminescence is a natural glow created by tiny marine organisms called dinoflagellates. They produce light when they’re disturbed, so when waves crash, when a fish swims by, or when you walk along the wet sand, the water lights up with neon blue sparkles.

Think of it like ocean fireflies. 💙

It only appears when conditions line up just right:
• warm water
• calm nights
• a bloom of plankton
• very little light pollution

Rocky Point’s shallow, warm Gulf waters create the perfect environment for it to occasionally appear, especially late summer through early fall, though sightings can pop up at other times too.

There’s no exact schedule, that’s part of the magic.
