🥊 Well, I wasn’t expecting this when I stopped at Borracho Tequila!

I had a chance to meet and talk with Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch at Borracho Tequila here in Rocky Point. I knew Shannon had a serious background in fighting, but I didn’t realize he’s also the man behind CHINGAZOS Bare Knuckle Boxing.

And CHINGAZOS 3 is coming back to Puerto Peñasco on Saturday, November 14, during Rocky Point Rally weekend. 🏍️🥊

The event is bringing fighters from the U.S. and Mexico to Rocky Point for a full night of bare-knuckle boxing.

Shannon also spends time here in Rocky Point, so it was pretty cool getting a chance to sit down and talk with the guy who’s putting the whole thing together.

🔮 Apparently, JJ can predict the future now… 😂

A little tarot card reading says JJ is going to make some money, somebody is buying a condo…and apparently I’M the buyer. 😳

There’s only one problem — I keep telling him I’M NOT BUYING A CONDO! 😂

You’ll have to watch to see how that works out…

🏨 Something new is coming to Sandy Beach!

If you haven’t been to Rocky Point recently, you may be surprised to see what’s going up in the Sandy Beach area.

A new Holiday Inn Express & Suites is getting ready to join the neighborhood, right near the Sonoran Sea and Sonoran Spa.

It’s another sign of just how much this part of Puerto Peñasco continues to grow and change.

😂 Apparently, JJ is ALWAYS here…

We caught up with Sonora Realtor JJ to check out some of the amenities that come with Rocky Point living — and apparently we weren’t the only ones keeping tabs on him. 😂

Starbucks ☕, Thrifty Ice Cream 🍦, a beautiful fitness center 💪, incredible pools, restaurants, beach access and a whole lot more.

And wherever JJ goes…Frankie isn’t too far behind. 😂

🐴🌊 45+ years coming to Rocky Point…and I’ve NEVER found one of these!

I’ve been coming to Rocky Point for more than 45 years, and somehow this place can still surprise me.

Walking Sandy beach after the tide went out, I found this little Pacific seahorse washed up on the sand. Seahorses do live in the Sea of Cortez, but in all my years here, this is the first one I’ve ever actually found on the beach.

On the same walk I also came across a sand dollar — something I’ve found around Rocky Point before, but never on Sandy Beach — plus this strange eel-like fish.

Just goes to show you never know what the Sea of Cortez is going to leave behind when the tide goes out.

🌴 Now this is Rocky Point living!

🐋 Have you ever seen the giant whale skeleton in Las Conchas?

If you’ve driven through Las Conchas, you may have spotted this massive whale skeleton sitting up in the desert.

It’s a fin whale, and the skeleton measures roughly 55 feet long! The whale reportedly washed ashore in a nearby estuary back in 1984, and today its skeleton is one of the most recognizable landmarks at CEDO — the Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans.

Pretty amazing seeing something this enormous sitting in the middle of the Sonoran Desert… just a short distance from the Sea of Cortez.

🚢 What’s the story behind this boat on Sandy Beach?

If you’ve been out toward the west end of Sandy Beach, you may have seen this unusual sight — a pretty substantial boat sitting on dry land with the Sea of Cortez behind it.

I’ve been curious about it for a while, but I haven’t been able to find the definitive story.

What is it? How did it get here? And how long has it been sitting here?

I know somebody in Rocky Point knows the story! 👇

Competition Hill — one of those Rocky Point landmarks that’s hard to miss at the end of Sandy Beach.

Whether you’ve climbed it in a RZR, ATV, Jeep… or just watched everyone else attempt it from a safe distance 😂, it’s been part of the Rocky Point experience for years.
