Remember the great show happening this afternoon at 530pm and hope to see you there!
Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors will have two exciting opportunities to experience Mexican aviation history and aerial skill as part of the city’s Double Anniversary Celebration. The Mexican Air Force and the 41st Military Zone have announced a series of public events featuring the renowned Águilas Aztecas aerobatic squadron.
The main aerial exhibition will take place over the Malecón and Banderas Bay on May 31 at 5:30 pm. The free event will include a parachute demonstration followed by a 25-minute performance by the Águilas Aztecas team, with up to eight aircraft performing synchronized maneuvers and precision formations high above the bay.
The celebrations also honor the legacy of the legendary Squadron 201, known as the Águilas Aztecas (“Aztec Eagles”). This unit made Mexican history during World War II as the nation’s only military force to serve in combat outside domestic borders. Deployed to the Philippines in 1945, the pilots of Squadron 201 participated in more than 90 combat missions that supported the liberation of the islands.
Their service remains an important symbol of Mexico’s commitment to freedom, courage, and international cooperation during one of the world’s most significant conflicts. The squadron’s bravery and discipline continue to inspire generations and are proudly remembered through events such as the upcoming celebrations in Puerto Vallarta.
