These windows in the stairwell look out on the roof with compressors and the neighbor’s windows. I wanted to block the view without blocking the light. I saw some great mosaic pieces done with shattered tempered glass. This seemed a great solution for this problem…

The decoration in this room is dedicated to the Mayan God of the Forest, Yum Kaax.

Armadillo #3 under glass. This one is special as it was carved entirely from a single piece of wood.

Glass encased Armadillo #2!

This was a real armadillo shell I got in the mercado. A master alebrije carver made the head, body, and tail.

I made the mushrooms out of jicaras (a gourd type plant) and cacao stirrers.
