Jordy recently joined the Once in a Lifetime ChristchurchNZ Business Events famil, a programme designed to show what Ōtautahi can offer.

And the biggest takeaway? Christchurch has real range. The itinerary moved through the city in a way that felt easy yet thoughtful.

From a city meander with Amiki Tours and local storytelling along the way, to paddling the Ōtākaro Avon River by waka with Ngāi Tahu iwi guides.

We explored venues including Christchurch Town Hall, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, The Arts Centre and Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, each offering a different lens on what business events can look like in the city.

There were also plenty of moments that showed how a programme can breathe between the business content. An after-hours experience at Riverside Market. A sunrise soak at He Puna Taimoana. Street art with Watch This Space. Tram transfers through the city. And a huge live music moment at One New Zealand Stadium for its first-ever concert.

Christchurch gives corporate groups culture, venues, food, wellness, energy and smooth logistics, without needing to overcomplicate the programme. It is compact, but not limited. Creative, but still practical. Easy to move through, but full of moments that feel considered.

A huge thank you to ChristchurchNZ Business Events for hosting, and to all of the partners, venues and suppliers who brought the famil to life.

Internal event planning can look cheaper on paper.

But most of the time, the real cost gets absorbed somewhere else… by the people already juggling enough.

Because a large-scale event isn’t just a few meetings and supplier emails. It’s hundreds of hours of logistics, timelines, negotiations, rooming lists, last-minute changes and constant moving parts.

And usually? That workload lands on your marketer, EA, operations lead or People & Culture team alongside their actual role.

The result is often delayed projects, stretched capacity and a team trying to do two full-time jobs at once.

A good event partner doesn’t just deliver the event.
They protect your team’s time, energy and focus in the process.

That’s the part businesses don’t always factor in - but it matters.

Brooke recently returned from a famil to Niue, and it is the kind of destination that reminds us why different can be such a strong strategy.

For Concentive groups, Niue offers something rare. It is close enough to feel achievable, with direct flights from Auckland, but far enough removed to give teams a genuine sense of escape.

Think clifftop ocean views, crystal-clear water, cave swimming, snorkelling, culture, local hospitality and the kind of natural beauty that does not need much production to feel impressive.

Base your group at Scenic Matavai Resort Niue, with 180-degree views over the Pacific, and the potential becomes clear. This is a destination well suited to incentives, leadership retreats and smaller corporate programmes where connection, reward and breathing space are the real goal.

Niue is still developing as a MICE destination, which is exactly what makes it exciting.

One to watch, and one we are glad to have experienced first-hand.

AI is changing the events industry fast. And honestly, some of it is incredibly useful.

It helps streamline the moving parts, speed up planning and create momentum behind the scenes. We use it too.

But we’re also seeing more and more events starting to feel the same.

The same themes.

The same styling.

The same recycled ideas.

Because AI pulls from patterns, not people.

And the best events have always been about people.

The energy in the room.

The timing.

The unexpected moments that guests actually remember afterwards.

That part still comes from conversation, instinct and understanding what matters to your audience.

AI can support the process.
But the magic? That still needs humans.

All you need.

A night for the people who keep New Zealand moving.

The National Travel Industry Awards 2026 brought the travel industry together in Auckland for an evening of celebration, recognition and connection.

Hosted at New Zealand International Convention Centre, the event transformed into a New York-inspired awards experience, complete with bold production, live entertainment, big stage moments and plenty of well-deserved applause.

From the first guest arrival to the final award of the night, every detail was designed to make the room feel polished, energetic and worthy of the people being celebrated.

Congratulations to every nominee, finalist and winner, and thank you to Travel Agents Association of New Zealand (TAANZ) for trusting us to help bring such an important industry night to life.

Last week, Duane returned from Hong Kong with a fresh lens on what the destination can offer for conference, incentive and corporate event programmes.

From heritage spaces at Tai Kwun and harbour views aboard the Star Ferry, to site inspections across Shangri-La properties, Kerry Hotel, M+ and Hong Kong Disneyland, the itinerary was a reminder of how much depth sits inside one city.

Hong Kong has that rare mix of energy, access, culture and scale. The kind of destination where a programme can move from rooftop drinks to meaningful cultural moments, high-impact venue experiences and proper wow factor, all within a few days.

For us, trips like this are about more than seeing the sights. They help us understand how a destination really works, who the right partners are, and where the strongest opportunities sit for our clients.

Thank you to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Cathay Pacific, Shangri-La Group and Destination Asia for hosting.

A pretty special way to end the Resene Construction Systems National Conference 2026 ✨

The Awards Gala Dinner brought together plaster professionals, architects, designers and industry partners from across New Zealand and Australia to reconnect, celebrate and kick off a milestone few days together.

As Rockcote celebrated 40 years, the evening marked a fitting close to the conference - centred on craftsmanship, collaboration and the people who continue to shape the industry.

Thank you to everyone who made it such a special evening 💚

After attending PCMA Convening APAC and The Meetings Show APAC in Singapore, Simon came back with one clear takeaway. The future of events will belong to the teams who combine technology with human instinct, creativity and strategic thinking.

Across the week, a few themes stood out:

- AI is becoming more experiential, not just operational.
- New destinations like AlUla, Mandai and Jeju are reshaping the incentive landscape.
- And softer long haul demand across parts of Asia is opening new opportunities for planners building 2026 and 2027 programs.

The agencies creating the most value are no longer just managing logistics. They are helping clients read the market, think strategically and design experiences people genuinely remember.

A gala dinner to remember ✨

Inspired by the energy of cabaret and Moulin Rouge, the team transformed Auckland Town Hall into an immersive gala experience filled with live music, aerial performances, acrobatics and roaming entertainment that kept the room moving from start to finish.

From the moment guests arrived, every detail was designed to feel bold, theatrical and completely transportive.

A celebration of the people behind the network, and a reminder that recognition lands differently when it feels like an experience.
