Come and enjoy the stunning Canterbury countryside from Chateau Pritchard, where service to the guest is paramount. The house reflects the many years that were spent in the Orient, with fine antiques sharing space nicely with more modern and comfortable pieces. We are 20 minutes from Christchurch Airport, and the city centre. Lincoln town is just down the road, perhaps jump on our two bikes to exp

lore the area. Guests are invited to enjoy the large common living area with library, wood-burning fire and a 75" TV. The back verandah is an ideal place to unwind, perhaps for afternoon tea or an evening beverage to watch the sunset. The spa pool is a wonderful way to relax while charting the magnificent Southern skies field of stars. Breakfast is provided whether it be freshly ground coffee and a warm croissant or a full cooked Kiwi breakfast with all the trimmings.

How fabulous. The Alpacas are going on an adventure to Ashburton, the whole family so they will be together. A huge thank you to all who helped rehome my girls who I have had for 7 years.
Have a wonderful life in your forever home.

It is with sadness that we will be closing Chateau Pritchard on the 15th of December. It has been a great adventure and so lucky to have had the best visitors that come to New Zealand. So thank you for all the support, laughs, and stories over these past few years.
As I will be leaving this property in early January it is going to be necessary for me to down size the collection or art and furniture from our first days in Hong Kong. If you would like to come and check things out just give me a call after the 15th of December.
022 358 1690 I don't know where I will be going so therein lies another adventure. My best mate for 57 years Neville, is now in care as it was not possible for me to cope after caring for him for 7 years. Dementia truly is a cruel condition. Still missing my official greeter here at the Chateau. Life without Fergus truly is the pits.
Once more a huge thank you to everyone who supported us. I will never forget you, after all I do have the Elephant Book!!!!

Well here we are in late February. Time has passed like a speeding bullet and life is busy. The Chateau is booked solid and I am blessed with the most wonderful visitors. It is a pleasure to host them. By the way my Booking.com rating is 9.8 out of 10 so there is no stopping me now. Nev is a different matter. He celebrated his 90th birthday December 29th with family and friends. Sara, Ricardo and Geri from Oz was the ultimate treat and Karaoke for the party was a great hit. He didn't have a clue what was going on as he spent a good deal of the time in the bathroom. The dementia has advanced and even simple tasks are beyond him but still he smiles and enjoys the house and visitors even if his conversation is London during the second world war. Short term memory is crap. I carry on and love my time back at ballet every week. Just an hour but I live in a different world there. Lucky me.The sun is shining brightly and the sky is baby blue. Perfect weather. Hope you are all well and happy, believe it or not I think of you all every day just to keep my sanity.
Fergus struggles with arthritis and sleeps a lot. Iguess our darling is on borrowed time as most Old English only live to about 9 years. The Ferg is now 11 1/2. and I still love him to bits. Stay safe all of you and smile. You all have my love.

July and rain, rain and more rain. We moved the Alpaca's to higher ground today as the poor things were almost under water. Quite a job for me and my gummies. Even the cows across the road are looking for higher plains!!!! Baby lambs are in the front paddock and this weekend, weather permitting the pruning of the orchard will begin. A daunting job but have a little help this year. Still loving the roaring fireside nights but the mornings are getting lighter so I guess Spring is on the way even though there are Iris out already. Wierd.

June already? Where has the first half gone? We were super busy up to May then it went quiet, but behold, we are picking up to almost full again. The frosts have been sparse but the rains and cold wind persist. Come on Spring. If the first 6 months went so fast surely the next three can zip by. I have upgraded all the rooms with new bedding which you can find on my web site but will post a couple here. The fire burns cheerily all day and the rooms are snug and warm. Feeding grateful birds daily and the variety is amazing. We have 2 Piwakawaka's (Fantails) that come inside for a chat if the door is open. Not likely now. All the old hedges are gone and new planting in their place. A huge improvement for the back verandah.

What’s On at the Chateau

Last year in September, we opened as a bed and breakfast in the Springston area, just behind Lincoln College. In spite of my positive attitude and great enthusiasm it has taken a while for people to find this gem of a house. We bought 8 Alpacas to be entertainment for the guests and what a bunch of nutters they are. The last week or so has been spa week for them and they have come back looking quite naked without their fine fleece. Check out the photos. They are all named after the international call signs and so far we have, Bravo, Siera, Juliet, Zulu, Victor (really Victoria) Delta, and the babies are Tango and Foxtrot. Feeding time is fun as they will check you out with sniffs and nuzzles all over. The ladies rule.

This week we hosted our first full house and cannot believe our luck in having such wonderful guests. Damian found a stand of flax in the fields and wove me a beautiful basket, David and Cam enjoyed breakfast in the kitchen garden under the umbrella, the four wonderful young people who were meant to be two, adapted to our extra beds in the big suite so they could all have their own bathroom and everyone was very complimentary about my cooking.

The weather has been stunningly hot, reminiscent of Hawaii and the night sky has been clear with an amazing display of the milky way and millions of stars. The men certainly enjoyed the spa pool while doing their star gazing. A game of Boules on the lawn is always fun and we will be telling you about something new very soon.

Don’t forget to come back and see what’s going on at the Chateau.
