This week, high in the Peruvian Andes near Ausangate, thousands of pilgrims are gathering for Qoyllur Rit’i, one of the most important cultural and spiritual celebrations in the Andes.

Meaning "Star Snow" in Quechua, the celebration blends Indigenous Andean beliefs with Catholic traditions through music, dance, and pilgrimage. People travel from across the region to seek blessings, honor their ancestors, and pay respect to the sacred mountains that remain central to Andean culture.

Surrounded by glaciers and spectacular mountain landscapes, Qoyllur Rit’i remains one of the most powerful expressions of living tradition in the Andes today.
