Truth Behind the Strike: Terror Networks or Civilian Cover?”
Pakistan Air Force reportedly targeted Afghan military installations on 16 March 2026. The site was located near a hospital, which has raised concerns and controversy. Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated over the past month, leading to a serious conflict situation. According to some claims, Taliban fighters have been using schools and hospitals as hideouts in order to mislead both the Pakistan Army and the international media. It is alleged that whenever Pakistan carries out strikes, such locations are presented as civilian facilities like hospitals or schools.
In this particular case, it is claimed that the targeted area was being used as a base by militants operating within or near the hospital premises. There are also allegations that vulnerable individuals, including drug addicts, were being recruited, manipulated, and trained for militant activities against Pakistan. Some analysts argue that such individuals are exploited as part of a broader strategy of irregular warfare, where they are psychologically conditioned and used in high-risk operations. Following the strike, the Taliban reportedly described the site as a civilian hospital or a rehabilitation centre, denying any militant presence.
There are also arguments questioning this claim. Afghanistan has long been associated with illicit drug production and smuggling in global discussions, which raises doubts for some observers about the nature and purpose of such a rehabilitation facility in the targeted area. Critics argue that such centres could be misrepresented or misused under the cover of civilian infrastructure.
They claimed that more than 400 people were killed in the attack; however, initial rescue reports suggested that around thirty bodies were recovered. This discrepancy has raised questions regarding the accuracy of the reported casualty figures.
Pakistan maintains that its military does not target Afghan civilians and respects their dignity and sovereignty. It emphasizes that its primary concern is that Afghan territory should not be used for activities against Pakistan.
