Apparently today is World Tourism Day. 🌍

Which sounds very official.

We should probably say something about destinations, sustainable development and unforgettable experiences.

But we run a campsite. 😂

So to us, tourism looks a little different.

It’s people arriving as complete strangers and waving at us when they leave.

It’s tents appearing between the trees.
Coffee at reception. ☕
Wet shoes.
Terrible attempts at pronouncing Soča.
Stories from countries we’ve never visited.
And the occasional camper we secretly hope will never leave. 🥹

You come here to see Bovec, the mountains and that ridiculously turquoise river everyone keeps taking photos of.

But somewhere along the way…

you become part of our summer too. 🩵

And when the season gets quiet, those are the things we remember.

Not how many check-ins we did.

The people.

So on World Tourism Day, thank you for travelling.
Thank you for choosing small places like ours.
Thank you for bringing a tiny piece of your world into ours.

And most importantly…

thank you for finding us. 🌲

Sorry. We seem to have misplaced the campsite. 🔎🌲

Oh wait.

There it is.

Somewhere between approximately 74,382 trees. 😂

No concrete jungle.
No rows of identical pitches.
No giant swimming pool visible from space.

Just tents, campers, trees and mountains doing their thing.

Very poor urban planning, really. 😏

POV: You booked Camp Vodenca for the mountains.

And then evening happened. 🌙

Suddenly everyone is walking slower.
The dogs are doing their final security inspection. 🐕
The mountain is being unnecessarily dramatic again.
Someone is opening a beer.
Someone is pretending that was definitely their first beer.
And absolutely nobody knows what time it is anymore.

Welcome to the absolutely WILD nightlife of Camp Vodenca. 😂

No DJ.
No disco.
No foam party.
No animation team.
No man with a microphone screaming “ARE YOU READY?!”

No, sir.
We are not ready.
We went hiking today. We are exhausted. 😭😂

Our evening entertainment consists mainly of sitting around, talking nonsense, drinking something cold and staring at the mountains.

Occasionally someone says:

“Wow… look at that.”

Yes, Karen.
It’s the same mountain that was there this morning.

But somehow we all look again. 🤷🏼‍♀️🏔️

Things get pretty crazy around here.

Sometimes someone even gets a second beer. 🍺

Absolute chaos.

And then, at 22:00, our legendary nightlife comes to an abrupt end because we have quiet hours and apparently we are responsible adults running a campsite. 🙄😂

Some people call it team building.
We call it surviving another season together and then going for pizza. 😂🍕

Because behind every peaceful camping photo, every clean shower, every perfectly placed camper and every “of course, no problem!”… there is a team.

A slightly tired team.
A sometimes questionable team.
A team powered by coffee, bad jokes and the occasional “WHO PUT THIS HERE?!” 😅

And somehow… it works. 🩵

We worked.
We laughed.
We probably annoyed each other at least 847 times.
And we made it through another crazy summer at Camp Vodenca.

So this little trip wasn’t about camping.

It was about the people who make Camp Vodenca Camp Vodenca. 🌲

Handbuilt by us.
Loved by you.
And occasionally held together by pizza. 🍕😂

September at Camp Vodenca. 🍂💙

The crowds are disappearing.
The mornings are getting a little colder.
The mountains are looking ridiculously good.
The sun is still doing its job. ☀️
And the camp has that peaceful September feeling we secretly love the most.

There’s still time for one last camping escape before October arrives and we start pretending we’re ready to say goodbye to another season.

Spoiler: we’re not. 🥹

So bring the tent. Bring the camper. Bring the warm socks for the morning coffee. ☕️

Come sit by the fire.
Go for a walk.
Do absolutely nothing.
Stare at the mountains for an unreasonable amount of time.

We don’t mind.

Actually… we just miss you. 🩵

One last camping trip?

The world is so beautiful, friend. 🌍

And yet, we spend so much time worrying about what other people might think.

Should I try rafting?
Am I too old for a zipline?
Will I look ridiculous in a wetsuit?
What if I fall out of the kayak? 😂

Well… you might. And you’ll probably have the best story to tell afterward.

Life is happening out there. In the mountains, on the river, around the campfire, and in those little moments when you forget to check your phone because you’re too busy actually living.

At Camp Vodenca, we give you a place to slow down, breathe, and feel at home in nature. And our friends at Aktivni Planet are here for the moments when you decide that relaxing is nice… but flying over a valley or paddling down the Soča sounds even better. 😎🚣‍♀️

You don’t have to be the bravest, the fittest, or the most experienced person in the world.

You just have to be willing to try.

So go outside. Do the things. Make the memories. Be everything you can be.

And if you need a little rest afterward, we know a very nice campsite. 😉

There are certain risks when your mum and stepdad work at Camp Vodenca…

You might accidentally become part of the family too. 😂🩵

September 4th was Gabriel’s birthday. 🎂🥳

And since he spent a good part of his summer here with Nicole and Alvaro, there was absolutely NO WAY we were going to let him quietly get away with just getting one year older.

Nope.

There was cake. 🎂
Candles. 🕯️
Presents. 🎁
A Slovenian dragon, obviously. 🇸🇮🐉
A ridiculous amount of balloons. 🎈
And one birthday boy who eventually ran off into the night wearing the decorations. 😂

Just a little Camp Vodenca birthday for a boy who became part of our slightly chaotic summer family. 🩵

Happy Birthday, Gabriel! 🥳

May your next year be full of adventures, laughter, cake… and preferably fewer balloons attached to your body. 😂🎈

📣 WOOP WOOP! SUMMER IS NOT DONE WITH US YET! ☀️💦

September looked at the calendar and said:
“Nah. I’m doing summer.” 😂

So naturally, we packed the essentials:
camping chairs ✔️
cold drinks ✔️
swimsuits ✔️
absolutely no intention of being productive ✔️✔️✔️

And moved the afternoon meeting to the river. 😎

Because when you live and work in Bovec, sometimes your office has crystal-clear water, mountain views and a very aggressive natural foot-cooling system. 🥶🤣

The water? Freezing.
The mood? Excellent.
The chairs? Questionable.
The company? 10/10. 🩵

This is September in the Soča Valley.

And we are absolutely NOT complaining. ☀️🏕️💦

🎓 WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT CAMP VODENCA IS NOW AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION.

The accreditation is questionable.
The professors are underqualified.
And the camp cats are currently reviewing the paperwork.

But welcome to CAMP UNIVERSITY — where common sense ends and camping begins. 🏕️

For our very first official entrance exam, Professor Nadia tested Nicole on the most important subjects in camping:

☕ Coffee as emotional support
🔦 Objects that disappear inside your own bag
🌦️ Why the mountains know more than your weather app
⛺ What to do with that mysterious leftover tent pole
🐈 And the highly advanced science of earning approval from the camp cat

Somehow, Nicole scored 100/100 and is now officially qualified to sleep on the ground and call it a holiday.

We finally found the secret to work-life balance. 😂

Apparently when you run a campsite, you’re supposed to use your free time to rest.

So we do.

Very professionally.

Two chairs.
Cold water.
Mountains.
And our favourite live stream. 😎

No buffering.
No subscription.
The quality is ridiculous.
And yes, sometimes your feet get wet. 😂

Just another extremely difficult day at Camp Vodenca.
