Today we mourn the loss of Gerty the Whale, who we thought would forever grace our front patio here at the Inn, but was sadly irreparably damaged by accident last night. But fear not! Candice is on the hunt for a new carving to replace Gerty. Comment here if you know of anyone who can replicate Gerty! She was made of wood.

Once again, we are so excited to announce that the Copper Whale Inn - Anchorage, Alaska has been named the Foraker (3rd place) Winner in the Best Hotel category of the 2026 Best of Alaska Business Awards. This is a significant achievement, especially in a year when more than 10,000 voters participated in selecting the winners. This is our 5th year in a row.
Not bad for a small 15-room inn. They put us up against all the large and chain hotels. Thank you to everyone who voted for us. We could not have done this without you.
