Shoutout to everyone who was fired up for 5K, 10K, or Doubled Up for 15K at the Alaska Distance Classic! A record setting crowd for us at this event brought the heat, smiles, and fun in the sun. Heat advisory? More like stoke advisory. 🔥 Thank you to Special Olympics Alaska for the warm ups, course assistance, and for all the work supporting Alaskan athletes and families throughout the year! Through your donations, shirt contributions, and our match, $3,500 is going to support SOA! Another record! 🙌

It’s been an epic summer on the trails, Anchorage! We hope your trail days aren’t over yet, but it’s time to celebrate the last two months of Trail Series group runs and Chugach Classics Challenge adventures.

Join us this Thursday, July 30th at Hilltop for our 4th and final Trail Series group run, followed by a post-run celebration!

New Balance trail shoe demos, custom T Shirts, snd raffle for a pair of the brand new Rebel Trail!

WEEK 8: WILLIWAW LAKES LOOP ⛰️

2026 Chugach Classics Challenge Week 8 (July 27 - August 2)

Complete the route this week to be entered in the raffle for a pair of the New Balance Rebel Trail!

We saved the best for last and the weather in southcentral AK looks like it might even cooperate with us this week! To start this iconic loop, park at Glen Alps and head toward Little O’Malley peak, following the switchbacks. Once at the ridge, continue on the Ballpark trail, past Deep Lake. At the end of this gradual, but rocky climb, you’ll take a steep descent down (enjoy the scree field!) past Black Lake until you reach the Williwaw Lakes trail. Take a left on the Williwaw Lakes trail, heading west, for approximately 3 miles, until you reach the intersection of the Middle Fork trail. Turn left on the Middle Fork trail, heading south, for about 1.5 miles until you intersect back with the trail you used to approach the Little O’Malley switchbacks. Follow the trail back to Glen Alps!

START AT: Glen Alps Trailhead
GEAR: trail shoes, water/food/electrolytes, bear spray, wind or rain jacket
ESTIMATED TIME: 3-5 hours (but may vary!)

Soggy miles, lots of smiles - thank you all for bringing the hype and good times to the Skinny Raven Half & 10K! 🏁 🙌 From the Raven Run Club Hills Angels to aid station pros Girls on the Run Serving Southcentral Alaska, South High XC, and Alaska Winter Stars, to the cheers squads and N Street neighbors, there was no raining on this parade! We had a blast, and hope you did too. Congrats to all on your accomplishments, those new PRs, the goals reached, and the gumption to head to the start line this morning! See you again next year?? Pencil in July 18, 2027! (We’ll plan for some sun ☀️ 😉 )

Gear up for a big climb with some of the best views in Southcentral Alaska at the top! Don’t let the shorter mileage deceive you — this out and back trail gets steep! Start at the Bird Ridge parking lot OR Bird Creek lot off the Seward Highway. Take the pavement bike path toward the start of the hike. The trail parallels a powerline before taking a sharp left turn and ascending up the peak.

START AT: Bird Ridge Trailhead or Bird Creek Trailhead

Swing by SRS Downtown tomorrow to pick up your race packet, shop limited edition race apparel under the tent (our best work yet if we say so ourselves!!) and race essentials inside.
