It's bear viewing season here in Alaska 🐻

And we want to highlight one of favorite spots (that's not Brooks Falls!). Say hello to beautiful Chinitna Bay, where bears converge to feast on sedge, clams, and salmon. Here's why we love it:

🛩️Flightseeing and bear viewing in just six hours from Anchorage (compared to 11-12 hours for a day trip to Katmai)

🏞️Diverse setting, with bears in meadows and on beaches

🗻Feels less 'busy' than Brooks Falls, where more people congregate in a smaller area

When they call it the 26 Glacier Cruise…they mean it!

On this day cruise out of Whittier you'll see at least 26 named glaciers in some of the most beautiful bays in Prince William Sound. It's one of our favorite day trips from Anchorage.

And, a bonus for those prone to a bit of sea sickness. These trips tend to be pretty calm thanks to the protected sound water.

You have a couple ways to get there: By rental car if you already have one reserved, or by booking the day cruise with transfer from Anchorage or Girdwood.

5 Things You Can't Miss in Seward

(There's way more than five...but this gets you started!)

- Spire Cove
- Exit Glacier
- Resurrect Art Coffeehouse
- Temperate Rainforest Trails (Two Lakes, Lowell Point)
- Alaska SeaLife Center

Spire Cove – Iconic sea stacks in Resurrection Bay. Head out on a day cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park and you’ll swing through them.

Exit Glacier – Every glacier in Alaska has its standout qualities. Exit Glacier is fascinating for how quickly it is retreating, and the scoured landscape it is leaving in its wake. Take the overlook trail from the Exit Glacier Nature Center to see it yourself.

Rainforest Trails - Think misty fairy land surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The Two Lakes trail is a good option within walking distance of the Small Boat Harbor.

Alaska SeaLife Center – Alaska’s only marine wildlife rehabilitation center. They do important work, and the facility is a must-visit.

Resurrect Art Coffeehouse – When it gets a little misty and cool, warm up with a hot beverage here. It’s also a wonderful place to find local artwork, jewelry, and ceramics.

Wildlife edition 🐻

The eagle won't land on a moose by a river where bears fish for salmon as a Dall sheep strolls by. But spotting real wildlife in the real wild, that's an experience you'll never forget 😊

Memorial Day - A day to honor, a day of gratitude. To those who have served no matter the sacrifice, our deepest thanks.
