Our Labor Day Weekend Pig Roast features slow roasted pork prepared fresh on site, served alongside two thoughtfully crafted seasonal cold sides that celebrate the flavors of late summer. Since we purchased the inn over 5 years ago, we've often repeated the lore that our little attached Andreas Post Office is "One of the oldest continually run post offices is PA."... often believing this fact fell within the creative boundaries of made-up statistics. Today I decided to run the question through AI ... and guess what?!?....

"Yes, it is entirely accurate to call the Andreas branch one of the oldest continually running post offices in Pennsylvania.While it does not date back to the 1700s colonial era, its 1883 founding makes it highly significant when looked at in the context of the entire state system:
1. In the Top 20% Statewide Pennsylvania has roughly 1,630 active post offices, which is one of the highest totals of any state in the nation. Because hundreds of rural post offices were established much later in the 1900s, an opening date of 1883 places the Andreas line well within the oldest 15% to 20% of all operating branches across the Commonwealth.
2. A Century of Continuity - The most important part of your statement is the word "continually." Throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries, thousands of small-town Pennsylvania post offices were permanently shut down or consolidated as highways replaced railroads. Our lovely peonies provided a beautiful treat for our Spring Celebration pairing dinner table tonight! Out of the hundreds of tightly closed buds... We got exactly 5 gorgeous early blooms! What a perfect addition to the table setting!!
