Seeing your families enjoy the house and make beach memories means the world to us. We truly love sharing our little slice of paradise with you.

We can't believe that it has been a year, actually a year ago today that Hurricane Helen formed! Ashly and her family had to be evacuated from the house and island. Unfortunately, their vacation was cut short. We are grateful that they wanted to give it another try. They were brave enough to come during the same week as last year! Thankfully no hurricanes this year.

The island is coming back strong. We are welcoming our first renters since Helene and Milton hit AMI.

Lots of work, but we are still so very thankful. So many lost so much more.

While we were getting us rental ready, we took the time to do some changes to some furniture and some great new paint ideas...all of which I had no say in.

A Call for Integrity and Vigilance

In the aftermath of two devastating hurricanes on Anna Maria Island, our community is facing unprecedented challenges. Many have lost everything, while others, like us, were fortunate to sustain damage that is manageable. We are working hard to get our vacation rental back up and running to provide a haven for guests. However, in the midst of the rebuilding process, we've encountered a disheartening reality: scammers posing as First Responders, asking for free stays in our home.

To those engaging in this behavior, let’s be clear—it is not only wrong but morally bankrupt. This kind of exploitation shows a disregard for the real suffering and struggles of people who have endured genuine loss. These deceptive tactics waste valuable time and resources that should be going toward helping our community heal and rebuild.

To fellow vacation rental owners: stay vigilant. Scammers will often use any opportunity to take advantage, especially during crises when people are more inclined to help. Verify all inquiries, ask for identification, and don't hesitate to reach out to local authorities if something feels off. Let's work together to protect our community and keep our focus on real recovery.

Anna Maria Island is resilient, and so are we. Let's stand together and prevent these bad actors from taking advantage of our goodwill!

We are deeply grateful to our past renters, friends, and families for the outpouring of support through calls and texts during this challenging time. Your kindness has made a significant impact. Additionally, we are inspired by the altruism of local restaurants and small businesses providing essential supplies and food to our community. This exemplary display of community care reaffirms that AMI supports its own!

Oar House Update:

Reopening is anticipated within the week. We apologize to cancelled renters and will be in touch regarding potential November and December bookings. We also invite those with the ability to get away to take advantage of our discounted rates until year's end.
