Portage dam is open, sauk dam is breached, otter creek, morey creek is filling up. If you need sandbags for your house, come get them. They are down by the boat landing.

Calling all Volunteers again. If you are available and would like to help, please come help do more sandbagging. You do not need to ask permission, just come and jump in. If you have a shovel, please bring it with. Please share for help as well, if you can.

The Community Building will be open to anyone needing shelter from the storms today. The south door on the building will be open. 401 Front St.

There is a chance of possible severe storms again tonight.
The village community hall at the corner of fifth and front Street will be open for those who wish to take shelter there. Officials will open it as storms approach. Please use the south side door that is closest to the flag poles of the fire department.

Tornado watch til 10 pm.

Severe storm threat for the Avoca area.
Very large hail, a few strong and long lasting tornados and damaging winds up to 70mph are possible through 10 pm tonight

Be weather aware today. The national weather service is saying there is a increased risk in straight line winds and tornadoes possibly as strong as F –2 for areas just south of us. Action times sound like around 5 PM until 10 PM. Please monitor your weather radios and be prepared in case of power outages. Those of you with Wells may want to fill a couple jugs of water just in case.
