A 40 acre orange grove just off the main highway between Bakersfield and Tehachapi, California was purchased in 1987. The next year Orange Grove RV Park was born and it opened for business in 1989. Jerry the original owner says “it just seemed to be a perfect place for an RV Park,” and was he right! A lot of consideration for our guests’ comfort went into the planning of the park. Since then Orang

e Grove RV Park has become a popular place for RV travelers who want to be in the area for an extended stay or for just a night or two to rest.

The Bakersfield Sound 🎶

Today we’re celebrating one of Bakersfield’s greatest legends—Merle Haggard.Born and raised in Bakersfield, Merle helped create the legendary Bakersfield Sound—a raw, honest style of country music that forever changed the genre.

If you’re visiting Orange Grove RV Park and want to experience a piece of that history, here are three must-see stops:

Merle Haggard Mural – Located in downtown Bakersfield, this beautiful mural honors one of country music’s most iconic voices and makes a great photo stop.

Merle Haggard’s Boxcar – Visit the Kern County Museum to see the restored railroad boxcar where Merle lived with his family as a child. It’s a powerful reminder of his humble beginnings and the journey that led him to become a country music legend.

Merle Haggard Drive – Take a drive down the street named in his honor, a lasting tribute to the man who put Bakersfield on the map in country music.

🍊 Orange Grove Recommends: Spend an afternoon exploring these landmarks and discover why Bakersfield is proudly known as the birthplace of the Bakersfield Sound.
