We grieve for the Food for Thought family upon the loss of forever young Todd. He was especially entrenched in the Marathon community and truly beloved. We were friends, but our friendship solidified when I worked with him at Food for Thought as we plodded through our Irma recovery. Those were some of the hardest days of my life but somehow he managed to help me survive with singing, snacks, ginger shots and random offerings from the grill. Todd was optimistic, joyful, fun, fiendishly quick witted and kind. I never wanted to imagine a world without him. The way the community showed up for him through his illness is a testament to all he gave us for so many years. He was my favorite person to bake for, simply so appreciative as he savored anything I made for him. Just weeks ago I made the last birthday cake I’ll ever make for him and he was as thrilled as always. Why are the good so often taken so young I’ll never understand. Please hold the Food for Thought family close in your hearts and be especially gentle when you’re there. Todd lived the life he wanted and on his terms. Along the way he laughed, loved, sang, snacked and brought so much love to us. I will miss him for the rest of my days. He absolutely knew how much he was loved and never missed an opportunity to say I love you back.

I watched a sea turtle nest excavation tonight. Sue from FWC was there to take genetic samples from hatched eggs and infertile eggs. 91 hatchlings, no one stuck in nest, whew. Good job mommy!

The most recent photo challenge ended last week. The theme was wildlife with clean background. I didn’t have many options despite me giving a good effort. I entered the first pic show, titled “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow (B-B-B-Bird’s the Word).” The second one was my backup. Nothing to write home about, but I got an entry in at least. I chose the ibis because I like how the tip color could be appreciated even far away.
