BREAKING: The Blue Ridge Parkway has reopened from Asheville to Graveyard Fields and Mount Pisgah! This 38-mile stretch includes some of the Parkway’s most beloved hikes and overlooks—just in time for the fall season. 🍂

Hurricane Helene took its toll on so many memorable spots in WNC. 😞 The beautiful Lake will be renovated, but the Flowering Bridge cannot. It was a very special spot.
🌺⛰️ Please continue to support all of the WNC businesses rebuilding almost a year after the storm! It impacted all of us in the Smokies. 🌺⛰️

Important Notice - Lake Lure Flowering Bridge: It is with deep regret that the Town of Lake Lure, NC announces that the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge must be taken down due to the significant structural impacts from last September 2024. The historic structure sustained severe damage during Tropical Storm Helene. After thorough assessments by two independent engineering firms, it was determined that the bridge is beyond repair and cannot be restored.

Following a competitive bid process, the Town has awarded the contract for removing the bridge to Mitch Contracting. This process will likely take several weeks, but the project will begin on August 18, 2025.

* For everyone's safety, it is crucial that the public avoid the demolition site at all times.

* This includes the area on the east side of the Bridge as well as the area on the West Side, near the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge Education Center.

* Please respect all posted signage and barriers.

The Town of Lake Lure recognizes the historical significance of the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, and we remain mindful of what it has meant to our community and to the countless visitors who have come to tour it. We can never thank the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge volunteers enough for their dedication and commitment to beautifying the Bridge and the Town of Lake Lure over the years. For over a decade, they worked tirelessly to create a gateway to somewhere beautiful!

🐴 So many fun things to do when you stay at Terrapin Lodge!
🐴 Just down the long gravel, tree lined road from the Pisgah Ranger Station is the Pisgah Forest Riding Stables!
🐴 Newly reopened in June, after hurricane recovery, visitors are welcome to stop by to see the beautiful horses (and Willow the Aussie Shepherd) or, better yet, go for a trail tour on horseback!!
🐴 An hour long tour is only $60, they have many tours available for ages 7+ as well as $10 pony rides for young ones.
🐴 Open 6 days a week from April to October.

🐴 If you are not riding, you can wait for your party by the beautiful riverside under the bridge. A fun place to sit with butterflies and look at the beautiful mica-filled rock formations abundant in the Pisgah Forest.

When in Pisgah...
Be sure to drive along Pisgah Highway and visit the Pisgah Ranger Station! Part museum, part gift shop, plus all the information you'll need for exploring the local trails and chasing the beautiful waterfalls! ⛰️🎣🚵🏻‍♂️🐻🌸🛍️

⛰️ Great article about some of the incredible history of the BRP and the reason why we are able to enjoy all it has to offer today!
⛰️Terrapin Lodge is only 5 miles from the BRP entrance, off of the picturesque Pisgah Highway!
⛰️Head North to the very first overlook at MP 411, one of the most beautiful overlooks, Cradle of Forestry! Sunrise over this spot is not to be missed!
⛰️ Fun Fact: Pisgah National Forest is part of the Vanderbilt legacy!!

Downtown Canton has the sweetest spot for Locally Sourced Goodness! Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, Local Treasures and Unique Gifts in one Beautiful Cozy Atmosphere! Carly and I really enjoyed a relaxing Sunday brunch here! Follow and be sure to try the "egg pie of the day" (with pimento cheese grits) when you visit Canton!
