Wow, 147 years later and one of the Mallory Castle fireplaces is burning bright again. We had this original slate fireplace restored and installed in an addition we just built onto our home that is also located on part of the former Mallory Castle estate. Mallory Castle had 7 fireplaces. We recovered 3, there were 3 purchased by an individual in Osceola in 1959 and there is still one in a house in Russell. We are going to enjoy our time sitting beside this piece of priceless history.

Looking forward to another busy year at Mallory Estate. Just FYI for this year, if you are interested in booking for your visit or event, you must call direct to 641-203-1869 for your reservation. While we are continuing to operate as an Airbnb overnight or extended stay, we will no longer accept bookings on the AIRBNB booking site. It is getting too hard to screen unwanted guests and a few bad apples have ruined that for everyone. I will have to know who you are and your intentions for booking with us in detail going forward. This will insure ALL guests have a beautiful, safe and clean place to stay for many years to come. We appreciate your business and look forward to hosting many happy families this year.

Found some great old framed Chariton photos on FB for sale a while back. Look great in the Mallory Shelter house. The walls in this part are built with original 1870's reclaimed barn wood. Also just used boards salvaged from the original 1870 Mallory barn for spindles on our deck out back of the shelter. It is great getting to build history into an already historical property. Found the old phone in the former Jerry Wells cabin that was located next to the former Lake Vista Motel where Country Cabins now stands. Love all the history.

Well, finally going to be installing one of the antique Mallory Castle fireplaces starting tomorrow. We already have one in the Mallory estate Airbnb so this one is going in a new room addition on our home that is also located on sacred Mallory property where the Ilion was once located. There were 7 fireplaces in the castle and they have all been located over the years. I ended up with the one wooden fireplace that was likely in the maids quarters and two of the huge slate fireplaces. I recently had all the pieces soda blasted and took off all the paint someone had covering the beautiful slate. We will put an electric insert in it so it will be a functioning beautiful addition that will be around for the next 100+ years.

Just picked up my painting of Mallory Estate that Steven Scott painted for me. I had Nash Cox frame it for me right here in Chariton. Not only is Nash a super talented, award winning artist, he does absolutely beautiful framing. Nash was super excited to frame one of his good friend, Steve's, paintings. We all certainly miss Steve Scott in Chariton and seeing him drumming on Saturday nights at the Soda Pop Saloon. Great job Nash!!!

Oh, it's just so pretty! No it's not. I don't like winter! Mallory Estate is covered in a fresh blanket of snow today. The shelter house is all buckled up for the winter and is now in use as storage shed for our mowers and vehicles. Pretty fancy storage shed.

Another beautiful day at Mallory Estate. All the Mallory fireplace doors, trim, grates and log holders have received a sandblast treatment and clear coat to protect them. Hard to believe these have a patent on them from 1877 and they now look better than new. Can't wait to get both of the Mallory fireplaces put back together and functional again. What a piece of history!
