ATTENTION MUSKIE HUNTERS! REGISTRATION DEADLINE IN ONE WEEK!

Our Heartland Chapter 10 second annual “Heartland Fall-Out” muskie tournament fundraiser is less than two weeks away on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with an awards ceremony at 5:30 pm.

We will be accepting two angler team registrations until the REGISTRATION DEADLINE OF 11:59 PM, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2026.

The event awards will be given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams & will be based on an 80% payout of the entry fees. The remaining portion of the entry fees will help fund our local youth, fisheries & research activities throughout the year.

To register, simply go to our website heartlandmuskies.org, access the “ENTRY FORMS” tab & select “FALL-OUT” where you will find additional important information about the fundraiser including check-in, rules, electronic entry form & an insurance waiver.

Upon completing & submitting your entry, if you selected a Venmo entry fee, you must manually access Venmo for payment to . If you selected a PayPal entry fee, you will be automatically directed to PayPal. Your PayPal or Venmo receipt will be your entry confirmation.

You will receive your Team ID at the event Check-In from 6:00 am – 7:00 am on Saturday morning, September 19, 2026.

✈️ We often get the question, "Who is that group of airplanes flying around, and why do they smoke?"

Those aircraft belong to the Midwest Tribute Squadron Formation Flight Team , a group of highly experienced pilots based in North Iowa who are dedicated to honoring veterans, active-duty military personnel, and first responders through the art of precision formation flying.

These pilots generously donate both their aircraft and their time to support the Veterans Airlift Command, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free private air transportation for our nation’s combat-injured veterans. Whether traveling for medical treatment or other compassionate needs, Veterans Airlift Command helps ensure those who have served our country can access the care and support they deserve.

Flying their vintage military aircraft, the team regularly practices at Mason City Municipal Airport in preparation for flyovers and patriotic events throughout the Midwest. The smoke systems used during training and performances help spectators better appreciate the precision and close coordination required to safely fly in formation.

So, the next time you see a group of airplanes flying together with smoke trailing behind them over North Iowa, you'll know you're witnessing more than just a practice flight—you're seeing a tribute in the sky. ✈️
