Montfair Resort Farm recently hosted a guided bird walk led by George Arnold, welcoming guests out for an early morning look at the property’s wildlife and habitat.

The group explored portions of the 129-acre property near Crozet, Virginia, following wooded trails, open field areas, ponds, and lake views. The landscape includes wetlands and beaver habitat supported by small tributaries and spring-fed water sources, creating a diverse environment for bird activity and nature observation.

After the walk, guests were invited to stay and enjoy views from the lake deck or explore further by canoe or bicycle across the trails. The property offers about 1.5 miles of walking paths with a mix of wooded sections, open areas, and varied terrain.

This eco-friendly retreat in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains is designed for quiet connection with nature across forests, fields, and water.

We are grateful to the Montfair Resort Farm family for welcoming LES and our campers and staff back for 2026. Montfair Resort Farm is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Shenandoah National Park just outside Charlottesville. They are a gorgeous place for vacations, weddings and events in a beautiful natural setting. We are so fortunate to have this gem in Charlottesville!

Starting June 14, our overnight campers, ages 9-18, will enjoy the field (not during weddings!) for big group games, will be tucked away in the shady woods for camping, exploring and developing new skills, and will have visits to the lake for swimming. Our teen backpacking trips also start from Montfair.
