🚨 **Carlsbad STR Owners & Managers — Important Update**

The Carlsbad City Council is considering the renewal of the **Carlsbad Tourism Business Improvement District (CTBID)**, which currently includes a **2% assessment on gross short-term vacation rental revenue**. The proposed renewal would continue the 2% assessment for **10 years beginning July 1, 2028**, with funds primarily used for tourism marketing and promotion through Visit Carlsbad.

📌 **Tonight’s vote would NOT finalize the renewal.** It would move the process forward and schedule a **Public Meeting on November 10, 2026**, followed by a **Public Hearing on December 1, 2026**.

For STR owners and operators, an important question is **how much vacation rentals contribute to the assessment and what specific marketing, advertising, and tourism benefits STRs receive in return.** We’ll continue following this issue and sharing updates as the process moves forward.
