Hiwassee River Access Update
Heads-up for those planning to paddle, float, or fish the Hiwassee — Beginning Monday, August 31, parking will be temporarily limited at both the 411 Bridge and Patty Bridge access ramps. Both boat ramps will be open, but construction for exciting and needed improvements will be ongoing.
Upon completion, river access will be better and more accessible:
411 Bridge: New courtesy dock + adaptive, ADA-compliant paddle craft launch
Patty Bridge: New ADA-compliant paddle craft launch
The project, which is a partnership between Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and BluewaysTN (Hiwassee River Blueway) is expected to take approximately 45 days, weather permitting. If you’re headed to the river during construction, plan ahead for limited parking or consider a different Hiwassee access point.
Making the river more accessible for all is going to be great - thank you to those involved! Great news for making one of Ocoee Country’s favorite waterways more accessible for everyone!
