Trail News: Jackson County’s Greenway in Sylva has officially been recognized as a Certified Forest Therapy Trail by the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy, making it the first fully accessible certified forest therapy trail in North Carolina and the United States!

The Greenway’s gentle, paved path follows the Tuckasegee River through a rich forest ecosystem, surrounded by wildflowers, ferns, birds, and the sound of moving water. Designed to invite relaxation and mindfulness, it offers a self-guided forest bathing experience that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or mobility.

A grand opening celebration will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Locust Creek Trailhead in Sylva. The event will include a short recognition ceremony, light refreshments, and the opportunity to explore this unique new wellness-focused trail.
