William “Bill” Burton Pitts, age 90, recently of New Albany, IN, was born July 19, 1935, and passed away on June 13, 2026 after a very short illness.

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life and bride of 65 years, Virgie Pitts; his sons Doug Pitts and Brad Pitts; his father and mother Jesse W and Frances Pitts; his sisters Carolyn Pitts Rhodes, Patricia Pitts McCann, and Linda Pitts Six; his in-laws, Helen Sunman-Mutz, and Everett Sunman; and his great-granddaughters Talia Pitts and Ava Pitts.

Survivors include his sons Chris (Mary Jo) and Steve (Julie) Pitts, his daughter-in-law Stacey Pitts; as well as his sister-in-law, Sue Dolson (Rob); his grandchildren Eric (Laura), Jacqueline, Braden (Taylor), Ethan, Claire, Benjamin, Michael, Nick, Sarah and their mother, Deb; and his great-grandchildren Lilly, Eli, Kaylee, Kelsey, Milo, and Levi Pitts, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral service for Bill will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026 at the Edinburgh Methodist Church, 301 Main Street, Edinburgh, Indiana 46124. The visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00pm, with the service at 2pm and burial immediately following at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN. All are invited to join us for fellowship and food immediately following the burial service at the church. We will also be having memorial services at Silvercrest, where he lived recently, as well as Tellico Village in Tennessee where he and Virgie lived for over 30 years at dates later to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations one of the many organizations that Bill loved and supported: Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org); Tunnels to Towers https://t2t.org/; American Veterans Center https://americanveteranscenter.org/vet-committees/wwii-veterans/ ; Greater European Missions https://gemission.org/projects.

JV McShirley, 72, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away May 9, 2026, of natural causes while in his home. He was born November 8, 1953, in New Castle, to the late John Victor and Mary Margaret (Sears) McShirley. He married Noname Porter-McShirley on January 28, 2002, in Michigan, and she survives, residing in Edinburgh, Indiana. He is also survived by his son, Erik McShirley, of Columbus, Indiana. JV was preceded in death by his brother, James McShirley. JV touched an untold number of lives over several decades, primarily though his love of books, and he maintained numerous life-long friendships. Throughout his college years, numerous odd jobs, and his self-shaped career of selling used books, JV was known for generously surprising many people with gifts of books, movies, and music that matched their interests. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh. Family and friends will hold a private gathering in June to share memories.

Maude Thomas (Robertson) Banks, 88, of Franklin, passed away May 2, 2026. She was born March 3, 1938, in Owenton, Kentucky, to the late Leonard Dale and Ruth Viola (Montfort) Robertson. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her four sisters and five brothers; and her grandson, Justin Robertson. Survivors include her son, David (Bonnie) Robertson, of Sanders, KY; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Yeich, of Franklin, Carla (David) Crouch, of Hillsboro, OH, and Connie Bond, of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Elijah Crouch, Isaac Crouch, Jonah Crouch, Hannah Bond, Chester Bond, and Dallas Bond; and great grandchildren, Hunter Bond and Solomon Crouch. Services will be 12:00, Noon, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Christ Fellowship Church, 125 Lind Drive, Edinburgh. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh.

Connie Sue (Stannard) Bowles Dulik, 80, of Franklin, passed away February 7, 2026. She was born December 7, 1945, in Bedford, to the late Frank and Nina (Stigal) Stannard. She is survived by her sons, Darwin Stannard, of Franklin, Ronnie (Juanita) Bowles, of Greenfield, and Dennis Bowles, of Indianapolis; daughter Susan Bryant, of Whiteland; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
