A lot of locals will tell you the “real” Gulf Shores starts once you head down Fort Morgan Road.

The crowds thin out. The giant tourist chaos fades away. And suddenly the beach starts feeling slower, quieter, and more natural again.

Some people LOVE that side of Gulf Shores because it still feels closer to what the coast used to be years ago. Less crowded beaches, hidden restaurants, long scenic drives, and fewer high-rises everywhere you look.

But other people think it’s too far away from everything and prefer staying closer to the main public beach where all the action is.

That debate has been going on forever between locals and visitors.

But one thing almost everybody agrees on? Sunset drives down Fort Morgan Road hit different.
