Hello friends old & new - I'm hoping to harness the turning the corner towards spring energy of Imbolc to push myself to be more present on social media - this seems like a good moment to reintroduce myself and hopefully reset
I'm Vee, I'm an ostensibly functional potter. I make mugs mostly which range from plain & sturdy through whimsical & pithy to timeless Celtic designs. I'm most of Dancing Pig Pots*. I've been making a life from clay all of my adult life, though at almost 62 I still feel like I'm an adult only technically, the way a tomato is a fruit.
I'm q***r, antifaschist, anti capitalist, a neurospicy procrastinator, an introvert who needs community. I only survive because of my families, both assigned & claimed. I'm your cheerfully crazy Auntie who wears most of the thrift shop all at once, is often baking or knitting and who processes world events through memes.
And coffee. i run on coffee & baked goods.
I live my in a barn which in turn is set in an obscure valley just west of Gettysburg PA. My barn has my studio on one side, my apartment on the other & entirely too much clutter in between, only part of it mine
I share my life here with Kevin the Wonder Cat & Remy, my ridiculous pitbull. They each deserve their own posts.
I also talk too much, so I'll stop for now so I'll have things to post tomorrow
I gotta go make coffee, exercise, tend to my correspondence, preheat the studio & call my Mom, my long distance sweetie & my best friend (3 different folks, in case that's not clear) so I can then sit down to make pots
*I'm most of Dancing Pig Pots but there are several other key folks who help the wheel turn, get the pots glazed & keep the kilns firing. More about them too, soon
