For the first time since 1999, opening weekend of MDRF happened without Dancing Pig Pots present. That was weird for me. Mostly good, but strange nonetheless.

I'm sending SusanGrace and the whole crew at Susangrace best wishes for an amazing season. I hope their new home is as good to them as it was to me!

Instead of being at Faire, I followed the Susquehanna into the mountains to my sweetie's home and went to his annual family picnic on the shore of Kekua Lake. His extended family is as lovely as he is, which is saying something!

Now, after a grand weekend I'm heading back to the studio to finish pots for my first September show, the Adams County Farmers Market this coming Saturday!

I hope to see you there! I gotta go drive home & finish some pots!

It's bowl day on this Monday. Got 20 eating bowls plus some wee bowls from ~40lbs of clay. Planning on having this for Labor Day Saturday at the Adams County Farmers Market
Follow along for updates!

Hey folks! If you're wondering what we're doing instead of MDRF this fall, fuss no more!
Here's our fall schedule, so far: five events with a few more to come

We've restocked The Serpent’s Key and hope to keep them full of pots, and we'll be back at Adams County Farmers Market on Saturday 5 September.

Then we'll be at Katie Smock on 19 September and then at Frederick Pagan Pride hosted by Frederick CUUPS on 26 September. Both are new to us events that we've long wanted to do but couldn't because Faire was kicking our butts

Then we'll be doing a Samhain themed Pottery Pop-up at The Serpent’s Key on Sunday 25 October - all day, with a tattoo pop up too - pottery & tattoos, how awesome is that?

And then we'll be back at Adams County Farmers Market for Closing Day, Saturday 31 October

Remy is stunned by our ambition. I'm hoping to add a few more events. And to overhaul the website. And, go to the beach in early October.
So, we'll still be busy, and we hope to see you soon.

I gotta go make pots!

Today is the physical anniversary of my partner's su***de - he left 3 years ago, on the Thursday after Pennsic, and since I still go to Pennsic, this anniversary affects me more than the calendar date.

So, I'm thinking about him today, and as usual the memories are more sweet than bitter. In those terrible days immediately after his death a woman who'd lost her partner to su***de almost 20 years earlier said to me that eventually how her husband died stopped mattering to her, what mattered was the fact of his being gone. I didn't really believe her then, but it's becoming much more true for me now.

The first picture here is of us, at Pennsic in 2014. I don't have many pictures of Joe, and even fewer of him smiling, so I was grateful when FB coughed this up the other day

I'm spending today and the rest of this week with my sweetie in Alfred NY - it's odd and lovely to have the space and time to decompress from Pennsic and to process the grief and other complicated feelings this season brings rather than having to immediately jump into the chaos of a Faire season

But I'll be back in the studio soon - we have 3 shows in September and I hope to add a few more yet as well as overhauling our website and restocking the Serpent's Key

I'm drinking coffee & napping with my sweetie and my dog this week, caring for what is here, savoring all the flavors of this season. I hope that you too have space and beauty in these wanning days of summer

Postcard from Peace Week... Booth scenes, selfies with sweetie, tents up top, my camp in the Bog (this is my 40th Pennsic and for all of them I've been a part of this camp) and then a walk under the full moon.

Postcard from Pennsic, day 1 aka setup Saturday

Up at 3:30, wheels up at 5, onsite at 10:30, through troll in under 20 minutes (!), booth contents yeeted out of truck by noon (excellent crew of helpers)

Then down to the bog & a slow struggle to get my yurt up (many side quests, not pictured, to help others unload & set up) then a lovely walk back to camp after visiting my sweetie

A bad day at Pennsic is better than a bad day anywhere else, and this was a very good day, which is even better than a good day anywhere else...

Postcard from Pre-Pennsic panic, or; how I spent the last 36 hours packing 3 months of pottery production & the huge amount of stuff it takes to display & sell those pots and support all of the folks who help sell the pots, into a 16' box truck

Related: today I realized the box of the 16' rental truck is longer than my apartment is wide. You'd think that might make it easier to pack and load. You'd be mistaken.

The only thing that makes it easier is the amazing partners and chosen family who rally to help (several of who are not pictured but definitely not forgotten!)

To bed, to hopefully sleep a bit before our projected 3:30 wake up for our 4:00 departure

I gotta get to Pennsic!

We leave for Pennsic at oh God hundred this Saturday and we're firmly in the "there seems to have been a struggle" part of the timeline.
The last pots have been thrown, handled & dried, our last bisque is cooling, pots must be packed this morning to make room for more pots coming out of the glaze kiln

Meanwhile life continues to swirl about me & my dubious functionality is dependent upon coffee & many naps.

I gotta go pack pots. Hope to see you at Pennsic!

About 2/3 of this year's Pennsic mugs have made it through the glaze kiln and I'm really excited by them.

These say "Pennsic fifty three" in elder futhark runes and there are only 53 of them. About 2/3rds have been reserved for Pennsic pickup. They usually are all claimed before we get to War, so if you'd like to reserve yours, please reach out to me via private message

Your mug isn't reserved until you hear back from me!

Our sneak peek/soft opening is planned for 4pm on Tuesday of Peace Week, 28 July. Our booth will be open from 9:30ish til 6 starting Wednesday of Peace Week through Thursday of War Week (29 July - 6 August) with the exception of Midnight Madness on Wednesday of War Week when we'll have a nap break in the afternoon but will be open til Midnight

I hope to see y'all at home soon!

Safe travels.

I gotta go make and price and pack pots!
