There’s something really special about bringing a historic space back to life with intention. 🥰
Unit 4 at Island Acres is one of the four original units still standing on the property, and over the past month, it received the makeover it deserved. This remodel was never about making the space feel “new.” It was about honoring the era it came from while making it more comfortable and functional for today’s guests.
The unit now features a brand new shower, new flooring in the kitchen and bathroom, a full repaint, and a completely reimagined kitchenette inspired by the motel’s 1950s roots. From the vintage drainboard sink and vintage metal cabinets to the zipper-pattern tile flooring, every detail was chosen to preserve the character and charm that make Island Acres what it is.
This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible amount of work behind the scenes. Tim poured his energy into bringing the remodel to life, while Pam led the design vision and thoughtfully curated the details that now make the space feel both nostalgic and welcoming. Luke and Stephanie were proud to assist with the grunt work of project and support Pam’s vision along the way.

What makes this project especially meaningful is that it reflects what Island Acres has always been about: preserving a piece of roadside Americana instead of stripping it away.
We’re so excited to finally share Unit 4 with all of you!✨
