🚨Burn ban update🚨

🚨 BURN BAN UPDATE FOR MISSISSIPPI 🚨

More counties have been added to the state burn ban list, bringing the total to 47 counties currently under an active burn ban. (More can be added at any time, so please check the listing regularly)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

🚫 Zero Outdoor Burning: Absolutely no burning of any kind is permitted at this time. This includes campfires, fire pits, burn barrels, brush/debris burning, and field burning.

🚫Violations are enforced by county sheriff's departments. Knowingly burning during a ban is a misdemeanor and may result in fines up to $500 per violation.

✅What is allowed? Enclosed gas/propane grills, gas heaters, and charcoal grills are permitted.

Please help protect our communities, emergency responders, and forests by not burning right now!

Please remember that throwing cigarette butts on the ground is not permitted in our campground as it is both litter (Think of our sweet ducks!) and a FIRE HAZARD. We have cigarette butt receptacles near laundry and the office door for disposal. No campfires are permitted this weekend.

DO NOT BURN - There is a HIGH Fire Danger across the Pine Belt for Friday and Saturday. The combination of Very Gusty Winds, Low Humidity, & Incredibly Dry Vegetation will create explosive and erratic wildfire behavior.

We appreciate Ciro cat swatting the cone away from Hattiesburg 😅 😺 🌀

Hurricane Isaias is gaining strength and expected to reach high end Cat 2 status later this evening.

Landfall is expected Friday evening as a dangerous hurricane somewhere between the MS/AL state line to Pensacola.

South MS is expected to stay on the west side of the center. While the west side of the storm is typically less impactful, strong winds are expected to develop on the northwest quadrant of Isaias as the wind field expands and Isaias interacts with an upper level trough.

If the track is close to the AL/MS line, this could present a high wind threat for Jackson and George counties Friday night. That is why the hurricane warning is in place for coastal Jackson County and a hurricane watch is in effect for inland Jackson County.

Tropical Storm warnings are in place for George, Harrison, Hancock Counties. Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Stone county.

Everyone loves a good campfire, but we must follow Mississippi's law regarding them.

Under Mississippi Code § 17-17-9, Mississippi law strictly prohibits the open burning of household garbage, putrescible (rotten/food) waste, and hazardous materials.

At Compass Park, we ONLY permit burning wood and it MUST be inside of a fire pit. We have a dumpster on site for our registered guests' garbage.

Please contact management if you need to dispose of large items.

🚨 Boil water notice! 🚨

Unfortunately, due to the length of time the water has had to be off, we are having to issue a boil water notice for the entire system. As soon as the testing is done and results have been reported to us, we will send out a notification to you. If you have any questions you can call the office Monday after 8 am at 601-582-1948.
