What a week… The past 7 (or 8??) days have been quite the ride! When our washing machine decided to go on vacation, it was just the start of a laundry nightmare.
On Friday my replacement part finally arrived while I was at the laundromat doing emergency loads for the weekend. The second I got home, I put on my headlamp, grabbed my 10mm ratchet, and headed to the basement. 🔩 Right then, the doorbell rang! I tucked the part away to welcome some long-time friends popping by to see Stu while they were in town. Once we wrapped up, I got right back to work and had the washer fixed in 20 minutes flat! Laundry was up and running...
..Or so I thought. Late Friday evening, our water softener started regenerating and just wouldn't stop. Powered by the high of fixing the washer myself, I googled the model and dug in. Turns out, it was reaching the end of its life. To top it off, I ran a load of white towels on Saturday evening—only to learn that when a softener fails, iron turns white towels bright orange! 🔸
We immediately stopped running water for laundry as the iron smell grew. On Sunday, I reached out to our weekend guests to explain the situation and reassure them help was on the way.
Bright and early Monday morning, Jeremy from Aquarius came out, got us a quick quote, and scheduled a full replacement for Tuesday. Then Tuesday, Tyler from Aquarius spent a good chunk of his day installing our new system, and we are officially back in business!
A huge THANK YOU to our guests who had to deal with this issue:
To anyone we missed speaking with directly—we’re so sorry for the hard, irony water! We assure you it’ll be crystal clear for your next stay.
To those we chatted with—thank you so much for your grace, patience, and understanding. You made a stressful weekend so much easier.
Here's to working washers, clear water, and smooth sailing from here on out! 🤞
