🏕️ The Season Begins at Base Camp Alpha 🏕️

This weekend marks a special milestone for Base Camp Alpha as we welcome our first respite retreat guest of the 2026 season during our opening weekend.

Our guest, an Ohio veteran, has traveled to the Appalachian foothills to spend a few days away from the pressures of daily life, surrounded by nature, fellowship, and the peace that only the outdoors can provide.

Over the next few days, we'll be doing what BCA was created to do—providing a place where veterans and first responders can step away from the noise, engage in meaningful peer-to-peer conversations, and reconnect with themselves, their families, and the natural world around them.

Sometimes healing doesn't happen in a clinic or a classroom.

Sometimes it begins around a campfire.

Sometimes it begins on a trail.

And sometimes it begins simply by knowing you're not alone.

We are incredibly excited to begin another season of serving those who have sacrificed so much for our communities and our nation.

🏕️ Cabin retreat reservations are already filling quickly, and we're looking forward to welcoming many more veterans, first responders, and their families throughout the season.

🚿 Campaign Update: Built for Dignity

Momentum continues to build at Base Camp Alpha.

We are incredibly honored to announce a new sponsorship donation from American Legion Post 118 in Amherst, Ohio in support of our Built for Dignity Shower Trailer Campaign.

With this latest contribution, our campaign total has now reached:

💰 $16,940 Raised Toward Our Goal

This project will provide permanent, self-contained shower and restroom facilities for the veterans, first responders, and families we serve through our retreats, hunts, volunteer weekends, and seasonal programs here in Jackson County.

🇺🇸 Base Camp Alpha – Weekend Recap Post

This weekend was something special.

We had the honor of hosting our 2nd Annual Spring Turkey Hunt here at Base Camp Alpha, bringing together veterans for a weekend of fellowship, time in the woods, and something deeper than just the hunt.

We were proud to host:

This weekend wasn’t measured by a harvest.

The birds were there.
They were heard.
They were called in.

But the shot never presented itself — and that’s hunting.

What mattered most… was everything else.

We shared stories.
We walked the woods together.
We laughed around the fire.

And on Saturday, we had the privilege of celebrating Joe’s 45th birthday — cake, song, and a moment that none of us will forget.

A huge thank you to Brennan Family Pizza for providing dinner Saturday evening — it meant more than you know.

There aren’t enough words.

You came in as a friend —
and left as family.
