‘Scottish’ Highland Beef for sale now at the Fort Collins Food Cooperative market (located at the old Beavers Market site) on W Mountain Avenue and Shields in Fort Collins It is very rare to find Highland beef in a market, look for the logo to assure you are buying pure bred WBR fabulous highland beef.

The City of Boulder is to be congratulated for continuing on the right path utilizing controlled cattle grazing to reduce fuel load on nearby grasslands a suggestion I planted in an opinion piece in the Fence Post Magazine after the horrendous fire in Superior and Louisville several years ago.

Boulder is expanding its targeted grazing program, using cattle to reduce grass fuels near neighborhoods as part of its wildfire mitigation strategy.

I wasn’t sure if we would have a hay crop this year, it will depend on mother nature and when our water right ends…. But for now a beautiful sight!

It was looking really bleak for a hay crop around here due to severe drought, not after the last couple of days, this should kick start our slow growing grasses. If we can get some more moisture in the rest of May we may be in business!

My neighbor just finished a river restoration project to improve fishing and wildlife habitat along with improving the stream bed wetland area. The project was completed by Naturion a skilled company that specializes in this amazing improvement. Steamside willows were removed and replanted later after significant work and land sculpturing occurred to relocate the river, secure the shoreline, while providing new deep pools which did not exist prior to the extensive rework.
