~ A Little River Report ~
The LM has settled down nicely since the torrents of spring last month and she's now flowing at the high-side of average. With a slight tannic stain, visibility is around 50". The extended weather forecast couldn't look better for the next week😎
IT'S DRY FLY SEASON! Hendrickson mayflies have been sporadically emerging, but the warmer temps this week should bring that hatch to peak. Yellow stoneflies have been skittering on sunny afternoons and the drakes and sulfurs will follow soon.
We currently have limited availability left in May and June. Give us a call and let's make a plan!

All the things we love about spring are returning. Hummingbirds and orioles are at the feeders and the Hendrickson mayfly is emerging from the river.
It's foraging season in the Northwoods! Fiddlehead ferns make an easy, quick sauté with wild leeks (we call 'em ramps). Dandelion blooms make an excellent wine or jelly and their nutrient-rich leaves compliment a salad.
Of course, the regional King of Forage, the coveted morel mushroom, is popping up where conditions are just right. Don't bother asking where. Nobody will tell you.

A big "Thank You!" to the usual cast of anglers that make our Trout Opener Weekend a memorable event every year. The water was high and the access was limited, but the fishing was pretty good!

~ A Little River Report ~
, friends and guests, we've all seen the terrible photos and videos of the mayhem and destruction created by this week's weather anomalies and the resulting highwater events throughout Northern Michigan. Precarious times, indeed.
The rising water of the Little Manistee watershed came close to our cabin's doorsteps, but barely breeched the interior of our cabins. While the lodge's lowland grounds are currently underwater, the cabins are now high-n-dry. We only had to move some throw rugs and mop puddles in the cabin's vestibules.
We've dodged a bullet, compared to other watersheds to the north.
Considering the current weather forecast, we expect the floodwaters to recede all week and the Little Manistee should be in excellent shape for next weekend's Trout Opener!

Many have called us, concerned about how we've been holding up during this historic flood. No worries, this is not our first river rodeo. We know what we're doing and we have everything under control!
