Copper in My Kitchen Part Two:

Shown here is the kitchen area to the right of the kitchen sink.

This area includes the dishwasher and 1920 Wedgewood gas stove that is the stove I use. The stove has two ovens, a broiler, a warmer, and two storage areas. I love this stove, and it has a beautiful blue gas flame.

The copper roof finials are fabulous, and I will install them on a roof someday when the right building comes along.

The countertops are copper, which I had made 20 years ago. At that time, they were a bargain at $700.

Assorted copper pots, pans, molds, and bits and bobs round out my collection.

I have one more copper area in my kitchen to share with you soon.

COPPER USED IN MY KITCHEN:
PART ONE...

I have been collecting copper for a few years and displaying it in my kitchen and breakfast room as art.

This is a wall that leads to the kitchen. The resin/concrete pig was my logo when I had a gift & home decor shop called Lady Butterbug Shoppe. Now, she is part of the English style wall vignette, mixed with copper and blue and white vintage transferware.

I love to shop for anything to do with home. I shop every day! To create this vignette, I shopped my home; pulled china off shelves, rearranged copper pieces, and took a copper hanging rack from Lady Butterbug Guesthouse to use here instead.

Things I thought about when creating this vignette. I love to mix copper and blue/white dishes, mix textures, use various shapes and heights, be whimsical, and I like to use what I have in my stash.

I wanted to share pictures of the two 75 year old pecan trees providing shade in my yard. They are huge trees with their limbs completely covering the side garden. I think originally they were planted too close together; so one is leaning toward the front yard searching for light. Pecan trees are popular in Texas, but they are messy trees. They have five droppings per year; sap, twigs, nuts, leaves , and tassels. I raked 178 bags of leaves this year with the two pecans and three Texas oaks. Keeps my body moving. :)

Flower power on the side wall of Lady Butterbug Guesthouse, a short-term rental on Airbnb in Old McKinney. Information in my profile.

To make this happy display, I used melamine plates for the flowers, old hose for the stems and leaves, and pool noodles cut in half for the leaves.

Cars driving by sometimes stop to take a look, and my guests enjoy the quirkiness.

It is the little collections that bring me joy like this French style soup tureen. When I find a great buy on something I collect, I jump with joy. I paid $64 for a $525 vintage tureen in mint condition!!! I will show you pics of the other collected tureens in another post.
I curated the tureen on the bamboo shelf, displayed with small copper containers, an outdoor metal container, and other items.

I purchased this 1920 neighborhood country store/filling station 12 years ago.
Guests are in love with the English decorated inside and English gardens outside.

It is a frugal and easy way to cover an old outdoor cushion.

Cut new fabric to wrap around old cushion, leaving ends.

Wrap new fabric around the old cushion and safety pin in place.

Fold in ends of new fabric and safety pin in place.

Place newly covered cushion on chair.

To keep a pillow from blowing off in the wind, make a small slit in the pillow back and insert ziptie.

Attach ziptie to chair and tighten, cut off ziptie tail.

No sewing, and when new fabric cushion gets shabby looking, replace with new fabric.

Easy peasy!!!
