Located in the remote Allagash Lake region of northern Maine you will find Loon Lodge. Our lodge offers outdoor adventures for everyone from fishing to hunting and nature tours to family vacations. Our lodge and cabins are situated on the northeast shores of Round Pond and are the only buildings on this 375 acre lake (or pond as we call it here in Maine). Our lodge offers various packages for the

outdoor adventurer. Whether you are a fly fisherman, love to sit back in a boat and troll or cast a lure into a remote pond you will find what you are looking for here. Northern Maine provides oppertunities to fish for Native Brook Trout (Squaretails), Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout, hard fighting Muskies, White and Yellow Perch and rare Blueback Trout. From trolling on remote lakes, to isolated mountain ponds to fast running streams and rivers that wind their way though the vast forests of northern Maine, Loon Lodge has just what the fisherman in you are looking for. Nature tours and family vacations are popular here at Loon Lodge. Families can enjoy swimming off the dock or at one of the lakes sandy beaches. Hiking trails in the area can take you scenic places like Little Allagash Falls, Allagash Mountain Firetower, or to historical places like the abandoned locomotives on Eagle Lake. Loon Lodge has no shortage of wildlife either. From loons singing their haunting calls in the evening, to moose feeding on water plants along the shore, to bald eagle swooping down on an unsuspecting trout on the lake. These are just some of wildlife scenes you will probably encounter in the woods and waters around Loon Lodge. For those wanting to get up close to wildlife we offer guided tours whether you want to see bears, moose or other wildlife. In the fall we offer guided moose calling tours where you can experience the excitement of calling moose during the rut. Loon Lodge offers several hunting packages. Guided Bear hunts over bait with success rates averaging between 70-100%. Guided and unguided moose hunts in zone 4 (just probably the best moose zone in Maine). Our guided moose hunts have been 100% success since we opened out doors in 1985. Whitetail deer offer a challenge for the hunter looking to escape the crowded forests of the east coast. The big bucks that roam the vast forests of northern Maine are a worthy trophy for any hunter. The remote forests of the Allagash offers up the best grouse hunting you will find in Maine. From beech ridges to old cuttings the terrain is ideal for the the bird hunter looking to have lots of wingshooting action. Waterfowlers will find the shallow lakes and swamps in the area perfect for hunting ducks and geese. Winter fun at Loon Lodge is not limited to just ice fishing. Whether you want to go snowsledding the many miles of unplowed roads, snowshoe or crosscountry ski you will find plenty of snow and winter fun at Loon Lodge. Loon Lodge is the ice fishing central on northern Maine. Lake like Allagash, Caucomgomoc, Chamberlain, Eagle and Chesuncook are all accessible by sled from our lodge. Alagash Lake, the gem of ice fishing in the North Maine Woods has no other lodging in the area as accessible as Loon Lodge. It is with sad hearts that we want you to know that we had to have Boudicca cross the rainbow bridge last Thursday. She was 13 years plus old and had sustained an injury which was causing pain. She had a wonderful life, seven months of the year at Loon Lodge and the other five months at her winter home which held her most favorite couch!
Some of you have known Boudicca since she was an eight week old puppy. She was always happiest when there were guests at the lodge as she loved people. She was Ray's shadow and found me very boring! This picture shows Boudicca and Ray having a nap behind the wood stove. We will miss her terribly but it was the right thing to do.

Here is Emily getting Mark's moose gutted. She and Mark hunted hard and NEVER gave up! A moose hunt is a once in a lifetime hunt for most people so we believe that you should hunt until the very last minute of the season!
It was a bit of a retrieval but some of our other guests jumped in and helped get it done! Emily has a cow tag of her own in October so she'll be back in the woods for her own moose.
Emily started guiding here about three years ago starting with bear season. She had asked at some other places for a chance to guide, she has the guide credentials They said she could come cook or housekeep but guys wouldn't want to have a woman guide. Boy were they wrong and boy are we happy we gave her a chance!

The bull moose week of September is done! Emily guided Mark all week and called in five bulls on Saturday! Mark took this awesome moose with only about two hours left in the hunt! It proves that you NEVER give up until the end of legal shooting time on Saturday! This was Mark's first big game harvest, 754 lbs and 40 1/2" spread.
