Huge shout out to Cork This Tap That! We drive by all the time, but Tuesday was our first time going to Singo Bingo and it was an absolute blast! The staff was amazing, the DJ was a total hoot, and we loved how he got the whole place singing along. Everything was well organized from start to finish.

Karla, the owner, is incredible, she even remembered us though we hadn’t seen her in years! (since “Cork This” was in Montgomery) And to top it all off, Helen accidentally left her purse there with cash inside. They texted us the next morning to let us know they had it safe and sound. That kind of honesty and care says everything about this place.

We are really lucky to have places and people like this in our community. These businesses work hard to create spaces where people can gather, laugh, connect, and feel welcomed.

Supporting local businesses is really important, these are folks who truly care about the people who walk through their doors, and that kind of heart is difficult to find.

As Montgomery develops like “any town USA” we really appreciate and want to support the unique independent businesses. (we hope this post helps get the word out!)

Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend checking them out if you’re anywhere near Dobbin! or simply want to take a short drive for a fabulous entertaining experience….

or perhaps we create an overnight retreat here at Soma? we can include a fieldtrip over to CTTT (it’s 5 mins up the road) then back for bonfire and s’mores at Soma?

Both sessions will introduce the Hero Archetype, our focus for the month of May. A season centered on courage, devotion, and stepping more fully into our path. We’d love for you to join us in this month’s journey.

To support the rhythm of the month, we’ve curated a set of playlists to help you “get in the mood” for May’s theme:

We’ve also appreciated hosting a capable property manager, Matthew, who joined us for a trial stay at the Ranch. Among many helpful contributions, he installed a security camera that allows us to monitor activity and care for the Soma space more intentionally. Having cameras and a property manager will help us (Helen & Joe) begin to travel, especially to visit family and our Soma Cabin in the PNW . We also love helping the future owner of Soma Ranch, setting them up for success.

Helen is teaching Saturday morning classes ONLINE this week: 8:45am 5 Stages, followed by the 10am Soma Faith Movement class. Both sessions are exploring the “Wanderer” in relationship with the “Explorer,” inviting us into curiosity, openness, and embodied discovery.

Looking ahead, May brings us into our Hero Archetype month . A season dedicated to courage, devotion, and stepping more fully into our path. We’d love for you to join us for the journey. If you sign up by the 28th of this month, you’re also welcome to bring a friend for free throughout May.

Last week we shared an update on “Soma For Sale” update including our search for someone to live at Soma Ranch as a part time “Ranch Helper”. This week “poof” life (we like to believe God!) has already responded: we now have a very capable new property manager joining us for a trial stay at the Ranch. On top of that, a delightful enquiry came in this afternoon from someone interested in purchasing the property. Things are moving in unexpected and encouraging ways.

Last night, Helen and Joe headed to Bryan, Texas to see Curious Savage, a wonderful local production featuring our very own Soma teacher and mover Gigi in the lead role. There are still a few more performances this weekend and next—highly recommended if you enjoy intimate theatre that is both humorous and deeply moving.

As a Christian, at Easter time, Helen Terry feels the strong desire to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. She also wants to honor the uniqueness of everyone in class and be accepting of all religions, beliefs and faiths.

Coming into our inclusive public Soma Faith Movement class with "let's all celebrate Jesus!" simply is not going to work.

Feeling the creative tension between her personal faith and professional responsibility, she found herself jumping for Joy when a fabulous solution revealed itself! What if we compile a playlist of songs to do with Rising with a focus around the concept "Rising".
