The tractors started arriving last night and the town is filled! Rolls and coffee have been served and the drivers are ready to traverse the gorgeous Loess Hills!
Be sure to join in the fun with the hamburger dinner at noon!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026, 8:30 am in MOORHEAD, the Loess Hills Tractor Ride kicks off.

United Bank Of Iowa has coffee and rolls and there will be a free will hamburger lunch.

This is an old video from several years ago, but it certainly shows the beauty and uniqueness off our hills and also shows the pride these participants take in their tractors.

Coming off a stretch where 8 out of 9 days were booked + 4 different groups of people + a week with 5 inches of rain = 4 top to bottom cottage cleanings + 3 lawn mowings + 3 w**d eating and w**d pulling sessions + 20 laundry loads of bed and bath linens. But we’re still dancing!

And while the past 9 days were a bit wild with that many bookings in such a short period of time, I had two great ladies and my mom who really helped me out and we always had the cottage prepared for the next guests.

Best comment from our guests….”This is the nicest place we’ve ever stayed in. Everything is pristine and the cottage is spotless”! ❤️

And on the 10th day…..we rested. 😴

November and December of 2026 are half booked. Dates around Thanksgiving and Christmas are currently available.

Hope to see everyone at the 9-noon breakfast being served today at the Peter A. Hansen American Legion Post 365, here in the City of Moorhead, Iowa. Be sure to also stop by the Moorhead Cultural Center and view their new exhibit on display. Follow that with a lovely drive on our surrounding Loess Hills National Scenic Byways. Have a beautiful day everyone!!

A fabulous Friday in Moorhead with a few of my favorite things: pollinators on my native plants, a nice crowd at the Farmers Market where I bought Carmel Rolls, apricot pie, pickled beets, fresh beets, spaghetti squash, pork sticks, and fresh peppers/tomatoes/onion for stuffed peppers. I also made it to our friends up in Soldier to check out their garage sales today. Top all that with a couple of 5 STAR reviews on recent stays, and it all adds up to a great Friday in the hills!
