The visionary founders, known as the “Jewels” of Alpha Phi Alpha, are Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy.

Roots & Proofs: The Culture Amplified

Step into a night where culture, history, and flavor collide. Roots & Proofs: The Culture Amplified is an immersive celebration of Black excellence through Black-owned spirits, music, storytelling, and community connection—hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Upsilon Lambda Chapter.

We’re taking over The House BK — 29 Locust St, Brooklyn, NY 11206 from 7 PM – 2 AM, and this fundraising experience directly supports youth mentorship, scholarships, and community programming across Brooklyn.

🎉 All Tickets Include: Customized Cups • Tasting Bites (as supplies last) • Complimentary Wristbands • One Complimentary Drink • Exclusive discount code to a local Black-owned liquor store (valid for one week beginning the night of the event) • All tickets are tax-deductible, supporting a 501(c)(3) charitable mission.

🔥 Golden Experience (VIP Add-On) — A limited-access upgrade unlocking early entry from 7–9PM, a VIP-only cocktail menu sampling, priority re-entry, live mixology demo, early access to limited bar seating, and guaranteed participation in our annual 9PM Roots Toast. Golden add-ons are extremely limited — once they’re gone, they’re gone.

The brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda are proud to support and promote the Christmas Toy Drive hosted by GIL-APhiA Brooklyn Long Island Inc. (501c3) on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, from 5–9 PM at The Poseidon Bar and Grill (279 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY).

We encourage our network, community members, and supporters to help brighten the holidays for local children and families. You can participate by:

On this 119th Founders’ Day, we celebrate the Seven Jewels who lit a path of leadership, scholarship, and service that continues to guide us. We reflect on the legacy established on Tuesday, December 4th, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University, and carried proudly by the Brotherhood today. From our campuses to our communities, Alpha leads, uplifts, and serves with excellence. The brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda remain mission focused, service driven, and Alpha made.
