SMPS PRC Join us for the 2023 PRC event in sunny San Diego, California, February 1-3, 2023 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

The SMPS Pacific Regional Conference (PRC) is an annual conference hosted by twelve SMPS chapters: Alaska, Hawaii, Inland Empire, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Oregon, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Idaho. Heading to PRC 2027 in Orange County? Don't just conference and fly out.
OC has a rich backstory — by the 1930s it was producing a sixth of the nation's Valencia orange crop. Hence, Orange County.
A few things worth building your itinerary around:
🍓 Tanaka Farms (Irvine) opens for strawberry season mid-March — pick berries, wagon rides, even goat yoga. 10 minutes from the Hyatt.
🌿 The Ecology Center (San Juan Capistrano) — a 28-acre regenerative farm hosting multi-course dinners under the stars. The kind of place that restores your faith in the world.
🏄 The Wedge (Newport Beach) — a jetty built by the USACE in the 1930s creates 30-foot waves breaking yards from shore. Free, wild, and guaranteed dinner conversation.
🥟 Din Tai Fung just opened at Irvine Spectrum (March 2026). Book ahead. Also nearby: CUCINA enoteca, Kalbi Social Club, and Javier's — all worth your time.
🥾 Laguna Coast Wilderness Park & Crystal Cove — March wildflowers + ridge-line Pacific views = peak hiking conditions.
And if you want to eat like a local? Drive north to Garden Grove or Buena Park for Vietnamese and Korean food that rivals anywhere in the country.
