Elks donate $10,000 to Oasis Family Resource Center
The CAPK Oasis Family Resource Center has been awarded a $10,000 Beacon Grant through the Ridgecrest Elks Lodge #1913. The Ridgecrest lodge secured this funding from the Elks National Foundation, which operates the Community Investments Program — an initiative designed to support local organizations that strengthen and serve their communities.
Through the $10,000 Beacon Grant, the Ridgecrest Elks Lodge #1913 directly purchased essential items for the CAPK Oasis Family Resource Center, ensuring that every dollar went straight into meeting urgent community needs. Elks members not only worked diligently to secure the grant — they also personally handled the purchasing, delivery, and coordination of all items.
A major highlight of the grant was the purchase of $3,000 worth of UHT shelf stable milk from Dollar Tree, providing 2,400 quarts of milk (200 cases) for local families. This single purchase significantly strengthened the Oasis food pantry’s ability to support households with limited access to dairy for several months.
In addition to the milk, the Elks acquired a large supply of nonperishable food items needed to replenish the Oasis pantry, including mac and cheese, pasta, canned meats, vegetables, fruits, soups, children’s snacks, and juices. These staples help ensure that families facing food insecurity have reliable access to nutritious options.
The grant also supported unhoused clients, seniors, and families with essential hygiene and personal care items. Purchases include wipes, hygiene kits, adult diapers, feminine products, and toilet paper — resources that are consistently in high demand and often difficult for clients to afford.
Finally, the Oasis Family Resource Center received a substantial delivery of baby supplies, including diapers, pullups, baby wipes, and additional items that will also support the center’s upcoming community baby shower. These resources help new and expecting parents meet their children’s basic needs during financially challenging times.
Program Manager Eric Le Barbé is extremely grateful for the support he received from the Elks. This grant provides several months of supplies and provides us peace of mind to be better able to support local families. The Oasis Family Resource Center provided services to 931 households in the last 12 months with a total of 2,566 people, including 43 pregnant moms, 156 seniors (60+), 143 unhoused individuals, 24 veterans, 524 children 0-5 and 780 children 6-17.
The Beacon Grant directly strengthens Oasis’ ability to meet the needs of these diverse and vulnerable community members, ensuring that families continue to receive food, hygiene items, baby supplies, and other critical resources
