Yesterday was the perfect fall day… We visited the Old Blue Boar Inn for lunch and then hiked to Hooper Bald . These beautiful places are only 15 - 25 minutes from the SaltBox and are well worth the trip. ❤️

Small changes that make a big difference. Hubby and I picked up this beautiful solid wood furniture set that included a vanity, and a high boy on Facebook marketplace in Florida for $60…. After doing a deep clean and refinish, it was ready for the cabin. We also picked up a solid cherry end table and an antique but solid chair from a seller for free and with a little sweat equity, they too, were ready for the cabin.

Now the Bears Den, and the Cubs Cove have a bit more character and comfort to offer our guests when they stay.

We are getting ready to bring more treasures to the cabin. Looking forward to replacing some old things with new “old” things. 🤣🤣🤣. We are always on the lookout for quality and character.

Don’t miss the 4th Annual Pickens Appalachian Folk Festival!

This free, two-day festival celebrates Appalachia's music, heritage, food, and stories. This festival brings together outstanding performers, regional artisans, food vendors, and visitors of all ages for an authentic Appalachian experience.

Friday evening features Appalachian music and entertainment, followed by Saturday, with a full day of storytelling, handcrafted goods, live performances, family-friendly fun, and Appalachian-inspired food.

Parking and admission are free, and camping spaces are available. Mark your calendars for this celebration of Appalachian culture and community!
