A new food truck has rolled into St. Ignace, and it comes with waterfront views.

Ja'merican Bites is now serving up spring rolls, jerk chicken, curry dishes, burgers, wraps, shrimp baskets, and more from a bright blue food truck overlooking Moran Bay. There’s outdoor seating nearby, room to relax by the water, and a different flavor option to add to the local food scene this season.

Who’s trying the spring rolls first? 👀

Some places are worth slowing down for. Just west of St. Ignace along US-2, the Gros Cap Scenic Overlook gives you Lake Michigan views that look out toward St. Helena Island and its historic lighthouse. Spend some time and read a little local history, stretch your legs, and take in the shoreline from high above the water.

Have you stopped at Gros Cap before?

Fresh whitefish served from a trolley along US-2? That’s exactly what you’ll find at The Fish Trolley west of downtown St. Ignace. Owner Chuck Cullip has created one of those easy summer stops people remember after a trip north.

Visitors keep talking about the fresh whitefish, light crispy batter, and friendly atmosphere. Add in tacos, baskets, poutine, picnic tables, and a unique roadside setup, and it’s easy to see why people keep stopping in.

Open daily from noon to 7pm this season.

Tag someone you’d take here for lunch on a summer drive through St. Ignace.

Dusty Dogz Saint Ignace is a fun stop for gourmet hot dogs, burgers, loaded toppings, and quick comfort food right in the middle of town. This Chicago Dog was made with a vegetarian substitute, which is another nice option to have while visiting St. Ignace.

This weekend brings fun happenings to the waterfront in St. Ignace. Friday night, look to the sky for our Drone Show after dark as hundreds of synchronized lights move above the bay. Saturday, experience the Native American Festival with workshops, dancing, and a community feast during the day, followed by fireworks over the waterfront that night. Music, culture, lights over the water, and another reason to spend the weekend by the Straits.

There’s something about walking into a sweet shop in St. Ignace that still feels like part of the vacation tradition.

We recently stopped by the new location for Mackinac Fudge Shop and it was the perfect reminder that downtown St. Ignace is filled with places to satisfy your sweet tooth this season. Fudge, chocolates, fresh bakery treats, ice cream, candy counters, and classic stops you’ll remember long after the trip home.

If you’re planning a visit, or already here exploring downtown, we just put together a guide to some of the sweet stops around St. Ignace.

Spring migration is underway in St. Ignace, making this a great time for a quieter stay.

Spend the morning on the Huron Boardwalk, explore the North Huron Birding Trail, then settle in near the water and watch the movement through the Straits unfold throughout the day.

You do not need binoculars to enjoy it here. Just a little time outside.
