Today we celebrate the life and legacy of our founder,
Giuseppe “Joe” Patti.
Born April 24, 1901, in Sicily, he came to America at just 18 years old with a dream and a deep love for fishing. By 1930, during one of the most difficult times in our nation’s history, he and his wife Anna began selling seafood from the back door of their home right here in Pensacola on Devillers Street.
In a twist of fate, Joe and Anna grew up just five miles apart in Sicily, but didn’t meet until they were both here in Pensacola, building new lives in a new country.
At one point during the height of the Great Depression, they shared a single pair of shoes, he wore them at night, and she wore them during the day. That’s how hard times were… and how determined they were to keep going.
Together, they raised six children, and through his guidance, built not just a business, but a family legacy. Over the years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have all spent time working at Joe Patti’s learning firsthand the value of hard work, responsibility and pride in what you do.
What started as a simple way to provide for their family and community quickly grew into something much more. With hard work, perseverance, and the support of their community, they built something that became part of the fabric of Pensacola.
From selling shrimp on their porch
to expanding into a market on Main Street, to becoming a destination known far beyond the Gulf Coast.
Because of his foundation, the business continues to carry his legacy forward. Joe Patti’s remains family run built on hard work, quality and community.
Happy Birthday, Joe!
Thank you for the foundation you built and the legacy we are honored to carry forward every single day. ❤️
