VENUS RETROGRADE for 40 days and nights
Over night tonight, early Saturday morning, October 3rd at 12:16am (PDT), Venus goes retrograde at 8’29 degrees of Scorpio.
This retrograde period will last until Friday the 13th of November bringing us through a 40+-day portal of deep reflection and purification.
“40 days and 40 nights” is a sacred number in many spiritual and religious traditions that symbolizes a period of deep purification, spiritual tests, initiations and transformation leading to a whole new beginning and divine calling.
A few profound examples of this are: Yeshua/Christ went into the desert for 40 days and 40 nights where he fasted, faced demons and experienced spiritual purification to prepare him for his ministry. Moses fasted for 40 days and nights on Mount Sinai before receiving the 10 commandments. Buddha fasted for 40 days in the wilderness and under the Bodhi tree before reaching enlightenment. In ancient Egypt they believed that it takes the soul 40 days to detach from their physical body. In ancient Babylonia the astrologers observed that the Pleiades disappeared from the night sky for 40 days. Then
we have our sacred Retrograde cycle of Venus that we are preparing for now.
We can look at this Venus Retrograde period as a time of deep introspection, reflection, purification and initiation to bring us into a whole new beginning, as our deeper Venusian soul re-emerges transformed. During this sacred time, we may be called to explore our values, our self-worth, as well as our relationship with our body, pleasure, resources and abundance.
Remember, Venus is the Goddess of Love and Relationship, as well as beauty, balance, peace, and harmony. So, we may be summoned by her to deeply explore our relationships and find ways to create more peace, harmony and balance within them while also honoring our deeper soul truth and needs,
as well as our sexuality and primal emotions (Scorpio).
Past relationships and relationship wounds, traumas and patterns may very likely re-emerge for healing and attention. People we haven’t seen or thought of for a long time may reappear or come to us in our dreams. We may be called to examine our past relationships and the divine mirrors they have been for us.
Old relationship dynamics may resurface so we can heal and transform them into healthier patterns that serve the highest good of all concerned.
This Venus Retrograde is particularly powerful as it will be the last-time she will go retrograde in Scorpio for the next 96 years. It has been going retrograde in Scorpio every 8 years since 1930.
So this Retrograde period is truly a powerful completion on so many levels.
This is a potent time to reflect upon:
What relationships need completion and resolution in your life?
What do you need to lay to rest and let die?
What deeper soul needs or parts of your true self have you repressed in your relationships?
How can you set these parts free now?
With Venus retrograde in Scorpio for the first 3 weeks, expect it to be a very deep time where what is unresolved in the depths of your unconscious around love, relationship, self-worth & value, sexuality, pleasure and resource may be drudged up for healing
and transformation. Scorpio, is over-souled by Pluto, and can take us to the underworld and back to show us whatever is hiding in the shadows that needs our focus and attention. This could be quite intense and bring up to the surface many deep emotions, traumas and memories to be transformed. We might also be drawn to reflect upon our relationship with ourself, and the relationship between the masculine and feminine within as well.
During this 40+ day period the Waxing Crescent Moon will conjunct Evening Star Venus on October 11th, before Venus leaves the Evening Sky on Saturday, October 17th. As she leaves the Evening Sky she will be between the Earth and the Sun where she will go through a profound metamorphosis and purification for about 14 days as she begins her transformation from the Aries/Pisces Goddess into the Scorpio/Libra Goddess where she will be for the next 18+ months.
Between now and the 17th take time to gaze at Venus in the early Evening Sky as She prepares to leave for the next year. Give thanks for all you have receiving during her Evening Star phase.
On October 23rd/24th Venus will exactly conjunct the Sun in what is called a ‘Venus Cazimi’ which means ‘in the Heart of the Sun’, also known as the Venus Star Point (Ariel Gutman).
This is a super potent and magical time when our inner Venusian Goddess is invited to the Temple of the Sun to be completely purified in the Golden Flames of the Sun, where old relationship dynamics, wounds, narratives and patterns can be burned away upon the Altar of the Sun.
Deeper realizations, truths, revelations, divine downloads and great wisdom may be revealed and awakened within as Venus goes through her profound metamorphosis. New intentions can be seeded for our relationships with Self, each other and our Planet.
How to honor this sacred time:
*Open yourself to receive divine insights, revelations, downloads, wisdom and guidance you need for your relationships with yourself and all life.
*Take time to meditate, pray, reflect and contemplate. Write in your journal.
*Open to the deep magic of this sacred time.
*Dance, create art or music to honor what you are experiencing in the Temple of the Sun and in this retrograde period.
*Pay attention to your dreams.
*Create a ceremony of release, burn away things in a sacred fire ritual that no longer serve you and your relationships.
*Do a relationship releasing ceremony for completion with a loved one, or write a letter in your journal to an old love to express your feelings, whether you send it or not.
*Become aware of the Divine Seeds you are planting during this sacred time, do a ceremony to honor this.
*Receive visions of your newly transformed inner Venus.
*See where this falls within your natal chart.
*Tune into Venus deep within your soul, for she is a reflection of a part of you. As above, so below.
On October 30th, is the heliacal rising of Venus as she rises up in the early morning before dawn and becomes the Morning Star once more in her newly transformed essence. So, too, will we rise up newly transformed to begin anew.
