Spruce Lodge sits on the northern shore of Lower Sysladobsis Lake, known by the locals as Lower Dobsis (DOB-see). Three classic lakefront camps were built in the early 1900's, original Maine camps from the era of sporting lodges. The housekeeping cabins are full of rustic charm while offering modern amenities; each has its own fully equipped kitchen including a dining area, bathroom with shower, s
creened porch, picnic table, and fire pit. Linens and towels are provided for your convenience. Lower Dobsis is approximately 11 miles long, covering an area of 5376 acres. It is well known for its salmon, small-mouth bass, and white perch fishing. Kayaks are available for free for day use on the lake; available for rent for day trips such as "The Loop". Motor boats are available for rent for $100 per day. For those interested in hunting, Spruce Lodge is within zone 19, and readily accessible to other zones. Wildlife common to the area include bear, moose, deer, fox, and turkey. Smith's General Store is available in Springfield for various goods and sundries; fishing license may be obtained as well. Hannaford's, Walmart, and Penobscot Valley Hospital are located in Lincoln, approximately 30 miles to the West. Within approximately an hour's drive are Baxter State Park and the Penobscot River.
