🌴❤️ What Makes Treasure Island, Florida, So Special to You?
Treasure Island residents are fighting to preserve something that makes our little slice of paradise so special — its charming, laid-back, mom-and-pop beach town atmosphere.
Following Hurricane Helene, many of our beloved locally owned hotels and motels have reopened. Even more exciting, several properties that had been shuttered long before the hurricane are getting a second chance at life, embracing their history and the nostalgic Old Florida charm that makes Treasure Island unique.
But our island is at a crossroads.
Dedicated residents have been working tirelessly to protect Treasure Island’s character while supporting responsible redevelopment and investment in our community.
We’re now approaching a critical vote that would require four of our five city commissioners to approve certain development plans. Meanwhile, developers are proposing buildings of eight stories or more, despite the island’s existing five-story-over-one-parking-level height restrictions.
We don’t have to sacrifice the character of Treasure Island to secure its future.
🏖️ And that’s why we’d love to hear from YOU!
We know many of our friends and guests have been vacationing on Treasure Island for years — some for generations. You keep coming back for a reason, and we’d love to know why!
Is it the charming beach motels and colorful cottages? The locally owned restaurants and shops? The sunsets, friendly faces, and laid-back atmosphere? Or simply that wonderful feeling of escaping the high-rises and experiencing a real Florida beach town?
❤️ Tell us what keeps bringing you back to Treasure Island.
And here’s a question worth considering:
If our charming little beach town became another high-rise destination, would it still be the Treasure Island you fell in love with?
Please share your memories, favorite places, and what makes TI special to you. And tag your friends and family who love our island, too!
Our residents have been fighting the good fight, and your stories help remind everyone why preserving the character of this community matters.
🌴 Because progress shouldn’t mean losing the very things that make a place worth visiting. ❤️
