the important factors in getting good sub sound is YOUR AMP, the spec you need to watch is SLEW RATE or the ability of the amp to drive the speaker in a linear fashion, low slew rate and your speaker doesn't return to its starting point before the next signal hits it in effect cutting short the movement of the cone so buy speakers with good efficien​cy and amps with the speakers recommended power(never 2x the manufactures rating) and the highest slew rate you can afford

Power handling is stated in watts but what does that mean, the watts is a measurement of power, power drives the voice coil of the speaker, too many watts and it can be pushed beyond the physical limits of the surround to keep the voice coil in the gap but more ofter the watts indicate the heat shedding limit of the wire wound into the voice coil, the coil can only handle so much power before it is over driven and self destructs because it goot so hot its movement could not keep the wire cool(like a fusethat is over loaded) the glues in the former melt the coating on the voice coil wire melts so wattage can be thought of as the heat shedding ability of the components of the speakers you simply cant beat the laws of physicals, force too many watts into a piece of wire, it will first glow then melt so a 600 watt driver can shed 600 watts of heat pretty much all day but it can shed 1200 watts for only 1/4 of that time and 2400 watts for 1/16th of that time before it gives up

a 800 watt sub and a 1600 watt sub sound the same, if your sub goes down to 28 not 38 you will never hear that difference,, a GOOD ENCLOSURE does far more to determine the quality of your low end than the power handling of the driver

off to Boston, yes Nepa Bluegrass still in full swing but theynonly use my stage, not my sound system, Band is 38 inputs and has added a dance troupe, drive today(350 miles) hotel tonight and load in is 9 am tomorrow I expect a 16 hour day , back to the hotel and drive back sunday, then head to central Pennsylvania to get my stage monday

If the low end tickles your testicle and changes your heartbeat you have too much low end in your mix. Lows should support the mix not define it

Well the diesel my truck needs has crested 6 dollars a gallon now. When you get 8mpg 649 agallon eats away any profit before your tank is half full. Normal fill is around 40 gallons

off to Tunkhannock Pennsylvania today so I can be ready for my noble crew at 10 am tomorrow to raise the stage and roof for Nepa Bluegrass festival , most likely my last time supplying a stage for this event as the local Rotary Club is building a permanent stage for all the events to use in this park
