🎉 Travel + Leisure has just named Truth or Consequences the Best Small Spa + Wellness Town in America!

"When you think of wellness destinations today, you probably imagine luxury resorts and upscale retreats. But in the tiny town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, the greatest luxury bubbles up from beneath the ground. Built atop a geothermal aquifer, the town is home to 10 commercial bathhouses, including several hot springs resorts." ~ Travel + Leisure Editors

🧖‍♀️ Sierra Grande and its spa and geothermal pools are part of the Healing Waters Trail that connects the wellness services and hot springs of T or C. During their stay, guests can enjoy wellness in the form of mineral soaks, outdoor adventure, spa treatments, farmer's markets, and regular yoga and live music sessions. We love the abundance of healthy and relaxing opportunities our small town provides.🩵

🐻 Why are bear scratches a common sight at Ladder? During a tour, Ted Turner Reserves Guide Amy reveals the relationship between Arizona alders and black bears.

🌳 Alders like these prefer to grow only in the cleanest water, indicating the health of the streams that run through this property and feed the riparian ecosystem. Scratches also leave scent that is a form of communication between bears.

📍Desert at Dusk at the Jornada Lava Caves at Armendaris. This week (August 27) marks the final weekly group excursion from Sierra Grande to witness the Mexican free-tailed bats take to the skies in search of insects. By the end of summer there are more than a million bats emerging at dusk.

🦇 Protecting roost sites is a top priority to ensure bats have safe, undisturbed habitat free of disease and human disturbance. The former bat guano mines at the site tell a story of the many ways this land has been used in the past. Oryx, pronghorn, and deer are often spotted grazing in the area.

The Mexican free-tailed bats will soon return to Mexico and Central America, and a smaller number of other species will remain in the caves through the winter. Private excursions are available until the bats migrate south. 📆 Reserve your tour at (877) 288-7637 or [email protected].
