There’s something extra special about Lake County during the cooler months, after the summer rush… peaceful mornings by the lake, beautiful seasonal scenery, local wineries, charming small towns, outdoor adventures, and the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy a cozy getaway.

From September 9 through April 1, stay in one of our uniquely themed vintage cabooses at these special seasonal rates:

✨ Weekday rates: $230–$260 per night
✨ Weekend rates: $255–$285 per night

Rates vary depending on the caboose you choose, including our double-occupancy cabooses, lakeside accommodations, and family-friendly cabooses that sleep up to four guests.

🍓☀️ Okay… this breakfast might just WIN summer! ☀️🍓

We kicked off the morning with a warm, homemade chocolate chip biscuit topped with sweet strawberry compote and a cloud of fluffy homemade vanilla bean whipped cream. 🍓🍫🤍 Seriously… dessert for breakfast? YES PLEASE!

But we weren’t done yet! 😋

Next up was a buttery, flaky croissant stuffed with sausage and egg, served with a side of golden, crispy fried potatoes. 🥐🍳🥔

Innkeeping is not for the faint of heart… but we absolutely love it! ❤️🚂

“How do you have time for everything? How do you balance it all?”

The honest answer? We don’t. One of us or all of us is tired all the time. 😂

Behind every homemade breakfast, freshly prepared caboose, answered message, special event, website update, and little touch of magic is a whole lot of coffee, teamwork, love—and probably someone saying, “What day is it?” ☕️😅

It may be exhausting, unpredictable, and beautifully chaotic, but welcoming our guests and creating unforgettable experiences makes it all worthwhile. We wouldn’t trade this adventure for anything! ✨

Light, bright, and bursting with lemony goodness, it’s the perfect balance of sweet and tart—and such a refreshing little treat to wake up to on a warm summer morning. 💛🍋☀️

✨ A little piece of our story… ✨

Hi there, Ali here! 👋

Many of you know us as the Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast—a beloved Lake County landmark welcoming guests since 1989. ❤️ What you may not know is that the hospitality company behind the Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast as it is today is Rather Bee Glamping.

When our family purchased this incredible property, there was never a question of changing the Featherbed Railroad name. Its history, charm, and nostalgia are part of what makes this place so special, and we are honored to continue that legacy.

Rather Bee Glamping is simply the heart behind our hospitality—the parent company that reflects our passion for creating unforgettable places to stay, meaningful guest experiences, and one-of-a-kind adventures. While the names are different, they share the same mission: welcoming people with genuine hospitality and creating memories that last long after the trip is over. Very much with the vision and foundation of the “Walt Disney Way”, with sprinkles of magic everywhere ✨

Long before we became the caretakers and stewards of this historic railroad property, we had a dream of creating places where people could slow down, reconnect, and make lasting memories. That dream began with Rather Bee Glamping and eventually led us to one of the most unique bed & breakfasts in California.

In 2023, I (Ali) had the honor of being featured by CanvasRebel Magazine, where I shared the story of how it all began—the dreams, the challenges, the leap of faith, and the passion that has guided us every step of the way as a family in this business . Love the history in this amazing county! 📍Lake County, California

Roaring Twenties During the construction of the Lucerne Hotel, Cottage City was built for both construction and hospitality workers. They were built so well, they are still lived in today. It is the Country Club Resort.
